It’s amazing how little reporting the mainstream media has done on Bush’s lack of immigration law enforcement and sanctuary cities. The media is quite happy with this lack of enforcement and therefore doesn’t report on it. This isn’t the only story the media has ignored that is of interest to conservatives. In place of these stories we get stories that are of interest to liberals. It’s very unprofessional conduct and the people of the US need to find a media that will work in the people’s interest rather than their own interest.

I believe that any public official who establishes a 'sanctuary city' should be prosecuted. It's also not 100% on the President, as the democratically controlled congress has either done nothing, or blocked any attempts at reform and enforcement.

The family ought to sue SF for as much as they can get as well as ending this insane practice.

What is really sad is the lack of fact-checking done on the supposed "sanctuary cities" problem. If there really were all these cities that completely ignored illegal immigrant criminals, that would be a bad thing. However, if you actually research the "problem" thoroughly, you find that it's not that widespread. Yes, a few people like the aforementioned Edwin Ramos slip through the cracks, and I feel terrible for the family of the victims. People like Mr. Ramos should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Enforcing our laws against crime - not immigration - will be the most effective deterrent against such a tragedy happening again. Legal citizens slip through the cracks as well. Besides, even if we deported all illegal immigrants... they'd just come back. If we want to crack down on immigration we have to figure out a way to secure the border... and no wall or fence yet proposed will ever do the trick. Is our immigration system broken? Undoubtedly. Will fixing "sanctuary cities" do anything about it? Undoubtedly not.

I agree with you on this. We must not forget though that the legislative is just as much at fault as Bush and all the state pols. Repubs and Dems have tried to shoot down what the people are demanding.

If folk were to have learned of or read John Locke's Second Treatise of Government, they would discover that the aim of government is not charity or education but to protect the innocent lives, liberties, and possessions of the people. By leaving the people undefended, even by denying them self protection, then that government has placed it's self in a state of war against the people, and it is in rebellion against the people, and the people who do try to regain their protections by replacing the tyrannical entity is NOT in rebellion. The people only need to know in a general sense that the government is seeking to destroy them in any manner that the government uses the force of the community (by rights all of the able bodied citizens carrying a weapon of offense - a private weapon of military calibre)against us or the converse, to withdraw such protections to expose us to foreign, even domestic, usurpations. John Locke was the mentor of our founders, and the intents of our founders were nearly simultaneous with his concepts. So now compare this situation above with the concepts of our founders and John Locke and tell me, Is our country trying to destroy or enslave the people?

I would agree with you except for one thing... Sanctuary Cities arise from action like Gavin Newsome's. Were it not for Gavin Newsome's views on immigration there would be no Sanctuary City in San Francisco. George W. Bush's supposed complicity in San Francisco's policy is a "stretch" beyond reality. If your theory were true, then any and every city would be a George W. Bush Sanctuary City. Based upon my reading of the same theory few cities are George W. Bush Sanctuary Cities by any stretch of the imagination. All of them are someone else's Sanctuary Cities driven by local "leaders" who are not the President and driven by people who not only disrespect the President but disrespect the rest of us. I feel you lay the blame for San Francisco and the deaths of some innocent people far too broadly. It would not be all that hard to blame their deaths on you too.
