If global climate change is an issue, it is a global issue; and, it requires a global solution. Anything less is doomed to failure.
The extent of the pain and suffering imposed by less-than-global "solutions" which fail to reduce global atmospheric CO2 concentrations is not offset in the least by the good intentions of those who impose those "solutions".
Global average temperature has been rising since ~1600. Atmospheric CO2 concentrations have been rising since at least ~1900, when global population was ~1.6 billion. This information provides some idea of the level of reduction in standard of living which would be required to stop/reverse CO2-driven global warming.
The debate on global warming is far from over. It has not yet begun; and, it won't/can't begin until the global warming "affirmers" are honest about the level of CO2 emissions reductions which would be required to stop/reverse CO2 accumulation in the atmosphere.
Dear Mr. Rahn - I do not know where you got global temperature figures. The world has warmed for the last ten years, not cooled, and several of the warmest years on record have occurred in the last decade. See the US EPA website http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science/recenttc.html
for a great figure documenting this. Yes it is real, yes it is important, yes it is global. What to do is interesting question.
Every problem that humans today face in all the corners of the globe is the direct result of the bad, selfish policies of incompetent vain and evil political leaders....There are no "good guys" anymore, just venial jackasses vying for individual power and monetary rewards....The 535 members of the US Congress are perfect examples!!!...
