So much for the so-called "right-wing" Washington Times.
So-called "progressives" flock in and out of the Harris Teeter every day and clearly could NOT care less.
Thank you to the Washington Times
Washington Times good job!! Do our elected officials really exempted from ...? Please Dig deeper!
Dave
A prime example of exploitation of the average citizen by corporate america. This involves more than the simple greed of Harris Teeter. This would not have been possible but for the enabling complicity of our elected officials. Shame on Jim Graham for promoting and sponsoring this exploitation. Shame on Mayor Fenty for being pulled along on this deal. Shame on the entire city council for not asking questions and ensuring that D.C. residents and small business owners were sufficiently protected. Harris Teeter is not being asked to just "play nicely in the sandbox" here. It is being asked to follow the law! D.C. law plainly prohibits these kinds of alcohol sales in this particular neighborhood. How many neighborhoods have been adversely affected by unauthorized alcohol sales, especially at these high volumes? D.C. law also prohibits this kind of Wal-Mart expansionism in this neighborhood. Who can doubt that the character of this neighborhood will be changed forever if Harris Teeter is allowed to maintain these invasive operations? Action must be taken now. If our elected officials will not do their jobs, then it is up to the courts to see that the laws are enforced. Hurrah for Mr. Cooper. There is at least one individual left to see that justice is done in this case.
