The correct lesson here is not that US presidents shouldn't talk to our opponents, the lesson is that US presidents shouldn't screw-up when they talk to our opponents.
Even more troubling is the take I have on Obama: a glib smooth talking phony with little practical grasp of not only history but also economics, law, geography, and technology. Harvard did a poor job of admission and passing him on. One cannot help but wonder why.
