delay is one of the reasons the gop is in the toilet. he is just going to fade away like the rest of the worst administration in us history.

I take offense at walkman56's comments. The Bush Administration will go down in history as the Administration that saved America. The Clinton Administration left the Bush Administration holding the bag. While Tom DeLay and Newt Gingrich were running the Republican Party, they oversaw 12 years of control of both Houses of Congress, after 40 years of Democrat control. The Clinton Administration took their "eye off the ball" on the terrorism issue. They treated every attack on U.S. interests, beginning with the first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, as a police action. The Clinton Administration was so consumed with balancing the budget (a non event when it comes to our daily lives), that he took money away from our military and defense and our intelligence community which cost us dearly on 9/11. Let me remind the liberals and Democrats that it was 10 years ago that the Clinton Administration allowed 8 oil companies merge into only 4. You don't think the long term effect of that action is raring its ugly head today? It is no coincidence that oil prices have been going up ever since. The Democrats love to blame everything on the Bush Administration because they never take any responsibility themselves. Even with the recent spike in the unemployment rate just announced, the unemployment rate is still below that of the lowest point during the Clinton Administration. The Bush Administration saved America, and have been aggressive in taking it to our enemies. If Obama is elected we will be crushed by our enemies, and life in America will never be the same. If you think you are paying too much in taxes now, just wait and see what happens in an Obama Administration. John McCain will win in a landslide.

As a conservative Republican I agree we will be out of power for a long time. That said Tom Delay is largely the cause of our problem. His spending like a drunken sailor policy has caused the biggest problem we have. It did not help that he was carring on an affair while throwing rocks at others. My 2 big spending, big government Senators call theirself Republicans but they are really LIBERALS as most Republican politicians have become.

"DeLay: Long rebuilding process for GOP" No thanks to you and your plan to earmark and pork-barrell Republicans into your envisioned “permanent majority.” Republicans lost their way under YOUR leadership. They ditched their economic conservatism at YOUR urging. It was YOUR plan that led to Republicans getting decimated in ‘06. I want you nowhere near wherever the GOP is trying to rebuild. Just go away…

The GOP taking avice from Tom Delay? It's a Democrat's dream! Here's the guy who spent the budget surplus, lectures (still) everyone else about moral values while he chased every skirt in town, and remains at the center of the culture of corruption (oh, sorry, he hasn't been convicted yet). Sort of like the Dems turning to Ralph Nader to reorganize their party.

If there was any EVIDENCE of wrong doing by Tom Delay, they would have had him drawn and quartered one minute prior to the verdict. Liberals drum true conservatives out of office by constant and false accusations until even the best of them give up and get out. Yet,,, a hundred crimes committed by the gangsters Billary and they look the other way. What these traitors don't know is that when they get what they want, a traitor in the white house ie: B. Hussein Obama bin laden, the dark days of the Carter Administration is going to look like the glory days in comparison. It is just about over, folks. Hunker down !

Outfitter- you are a hoot! "The Bush Administration will go down in history as the Administration that saved America." Seriously dude, stop drinking the Kool-Aid already. Whether you believe in this war or not, virtually any respected analyst will agree it was botched. I won't waste my time refuting the rest of your tripe since you seem to live in a biased hole somewhere in Haventgotaclueville except to say the, "Blame it on Clinton" defense is beyond silly. Additionally, it is oil speculators, like energy speculators (see Enron), that are causing this silly energy bubble and the lack of regulation of said by this administration- again, please open your eyes to the possibilities! Did Clinton botch stuff? OH, YEA (NAFTA comes to mind). But you have the Bush Family in tight with the Saudis and oil companies, etc. and you are not upset? Please. And a balanced budget is a "non event"? Outfitter, go directly to Econ 101 and get a clue about the relationship of deficits/weak dollar/inflation. Some people, seriously. KimC- As far as Tommie boy goes- the wheels of justice turn slowly, especially when you stack the Justice Department deck. You must live in the same town as Outfitter. How about the list of Republican child molesters? http://www.armchairsubversive.org/ Please, take off the blinders, drop the bigoted hate speech and try to make decisions based on facts, like the huge number of corrupt republicans-http://www.liberalslikechrist.org/gopcorruption.html. "Liberals drum true conservatives ...", could your mind possibly handle the fact that it just might be the other way around? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/21/60minutes/main3859830.shtml Stay tuned. A lot more republicans are going to go to jail. I wonder how mad you will be if you allow yourself to realize how they have dishonored their office and this country.

Tom Delay was the mastermind of the pork barrel, bridge to nowhere Republicans. He touted their invincibility as they threw away their professed core beliefs. He is correct that the McCain Feingold creates problems for the Republicans but who do we have to thank for that? "W" and McCain and a spineless Republican Congress. It could have been easily stopped with a veto from "W" or agressive leadership from the Congress but no they were fat dumb and deluded.
