This is just an attempt to support the troops but not the war. If his concern over our military's mental health were from a leadership perspective we would have heard his voice when Kennedy called them torturers, Murtha murderers and Dubin Nazi's. Instead we get this attempt with a global warming "hockey stick" type of substantiation. Hopefully this is not a preview of his analysis ability with regard to the withdrawal from Iraq with no contingencies.

This may be the cockamamie idea of a twenty-something staffer rather than a true concern of Mr. Obama. Nevertheless, it is striking in its arrogance and ignorance, and speaks poorly of the Democratic campaign. On the other hand, Obama is a utopian rhetorician, and he just may have a plan to make humankind safe from suicide. Step one is to raise taxes on those who do not pay their "fair" share.

Thomas Sowell is probably one of the very few who will be able to actually criticize Obama from now on. The left wing media will literally crucify any such commentary by a white person as evidence of bigotry and racism. I have already seen several supposed 'news' stories in which this allegation is being hinted at. Be aware that Democrats and their full-fledged supporters in the media have no scruples, and will do whatever it takes to elect the first black president, no matter whether he is qualified for the job, or not.

I am sorry to see that the first 2 sentences of this article have been left out. My [Thursday morning] Print addition has the first 2 sentences: "Now that Barack Obama has become the Democrats' nominee for president of the United States, to the cheers of the media at home and abroad, he has written a letter to the defense secretary, in a tone as if he is already president, addressing one of his subordinates. The letter ends:..etc" This introduction really sets the tone for the article. This is a good indication of what an Obama Presidency would be like; taking the lead of the liberal media to find fault with any little military item and harrass our Generals with it. As if they had nothing better to do.
