I really doubt Mr. Holder's comments led directly to the pardon. The huge cash flow from Rich to the Clinton's made the pardon a done deal.
And of course the "nonpartisan" report scored the numbers statically. Democrats just don't seem to understand that raising taxes has never had the predicted results. Slower economic growth will be the hidden "tax" that those middle class voters will pay in the long run.
When you increase the taxes on someone that is wealthy, that person does not spend less on food, gas or other items. They simply end up with less money in their investments. That causes slower economic growth, which hits the middle class with less jobs and less productivity gains that result in a better standard of living for everyone.
Didn't HP just become the largest PC maker in the world toppling Dell from that spot?
Well put, RDH. Those taxes will ultimately end up in consumer costs, downsizing, and more jobs sent overseas to maintain desired profit margins. I've never understood the logic behind taxing productivity, anyway. Imho, taxing consumption would encourage conservation and responsible management of resources.
