WASHINGTON NATIONALS at SEATTLE MARINERS

Where: Safeco Field, Seattle

Friday: 10:10 p.m., RHP Shawn Hill (0-3, 4.35) vs. RHP R.A. Dickey (1-1, 2.67), MASN2.

Saturday: 10:10 p.m., RHP Tyler Clippard (0-1, 6.23) vs. LHP Erik Bedard (4-4, 4.26), MASN2.

Sunday: 4:10 p.m., RHP Tim Redding (6-3, 4.29) vs. LHP Jarrod Washburn (2-7, 6.09), MASN2.

Series breakdown: The Nationals may be struggling, but they have nothing on the Mariners, owners of the majors’ worst record and seemingly in disarray at the moment. Hitting coach Jeff Pentland was fired last week and replaced by 70-year-old Lee Elia, and manager John McLaren’s job has been in jeopardy for weeks. Former Nationals second baseman Jose Vidro is hitting just .222 but is second on the club with 32 RBI as the regular DH. Odalis Perez was scheduled to start Saturday for Washington, but shoulder tendinitis is expected to land him on the DL and force the Nationals to recall Clippard from Class AAA Columbus for the second time in a week.
