Senator McCain continues to make it more difficult for true conservatives to vote for him.
I believe that it was the media that picked Obama and I believe that it was the media that picked McCain - that way they can't lose - because they know that if Obama loses, there are Dems and Independents who are quite comfortable with McCain, a Republican in name only (RINO).
I also believe that if McCain is elected president, it will be the end of the Republican Party, and once again, we are being forced to vote for the lesser of two evils and that is what got us into this mess in the first place!
Now what we have to decide is, do we let Obama become president in which case it will be disasterous and the country will go down the tubes at a rapid pace, or do we vote for McCain, in which case it will still be disaster, but at least it will go down at a slower pace.
While Mac and I don't agree on every issue, I find him to be far superior to Barack Obama.
My first opportunity to vote was for Jimmy Carter, I DIDN'T vote for his reelection. For me to vote for Barack Obama this time would be a repudiation of my opinion of Carter: THE worst President of the 20th century.
While Mac and I disagree on some issues, I conclude him to be honest, honorable, and the American hero John Kerry pretends to be.
McCain "bedevils" democrats? You're kidding right? I think it should read McCain entertains democrats. McCain lost his "maverick" status when he flip-flopped on torture, the bush tax cuts, and virtually every issue of consequence to voters. The so called maverick is nothing but a gelding now - he's been emasculated for the sake of the GOP nomination. He used to be honorable, now he's just another pandering politician. I will be voting for Obama - at least he has convictions and sticks to his principles. McCain on the other hand has proven that he is not a man of his word, just a man for sale. It's a shame really.
Not sure why the Republican brand is in the toilet when Congress ratings are at an all time low (18%), the President is 10 points higher than them and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are heading up the Democratic line up. Seems like people are just dissatisfied with the government to me, it's just easier to blame one person. The key to McCains success will not be how much he promises but how much he has delivered in the past as compared to Obama. Every candidate promises change (just review Pelosi's acceptance speech) but what is the change and who will deliver.
Will Obama or McCain ratify the Rome Accord on the International Criminal Court?
I am an old codger now with graying hair and balding pate. I have voted for decades for the lesser of two evils and see nothing to be ashamed of in doing so. We voters are supposed to be adults, not children who kick and scream if instant gratification is denied. Both Obama and McCain are flawed. So what? So are you and I. Just decide where you stand on the issues and vote for the guy closer to your view of reality. And you conservatives out there, stop complaining that McCain is too friendly with Democrats, as if all of them are public enemies.
My draw to McC is that I fear a fully Dem controlled House, Senate and Executive. All of the protections of The Constitution will be subverted without balance of power. I as a conservative still believe that less government is better government. Yes, McC will have my vote, not because of being red but for protection of my family. I do not believe in the BHO brand of creeping liberalism and socialism.
You can put as much lipstick on that BHO pig...and it's still a pig. If McCain shows up, he wins.
As you say, "his voting record [...] portrays a solid Republican"--a reality the Dems will happily exploit to the fullest in the fall.
So what’s not to like? … Bomb Pakistan, meet with anyone, including Iran's "President"; refer to women as "Sweetie"; bash as "bitter" small-town Americans with religious convictions or guns; always abort or be "punished with children"; take 20 years of mentoring at Trinity United Church of Christ where the Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Trumpeter Award goes to Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan. So what if he’s a freshman Junior Senator? “Organizing neighborhoods” is great preparation for leading the world’s most powerful nation. He is willing to “listen” to pro-lifers, and he will bring Unity: All we need to do is have everyone “Change” to the Liberal side! Forget it Senator McCain, we are making history here.
