Obama stands firm; McCain rides wave for energy solutions

It's almost sad watching John McCain trying to answer questions he knows little or nothing about. His views would be enough to keep a seesaw going non-stop for a week. Unfortunately,it seems Mr. McCain was hung out to dry by the GOP looking for redemption in 2012.

The democrats are wrong on this issue. We should have an all out (going to the moon) effort on obtaing all of the oil we can find. Our future will be much more secure when we do not depend on foriegn nations to keep our country moving.

To be certain, we CAN and we MUST achieve total energy independence; but, our Nation can only extricate ourselves from this self imposed dilemma by a broad-based, comprehensive NATIONAL ENERGY STRATEGY that BLENDS all of the elements of: conservation; major increases in transportation efficiencies, such as increased mileage standards; exploitation of our indigenous petroleum resources; fast-tracking of regulatory criteria; a significant expansion of our refinery facilities; major investments in nuclear energy; supplementation of our electrical grid with solar, wind, geo-thermal, and hydro technologies; and, a major investment in Research and Development to bring a Hydrogen and Fusion based economy to fruition. Unfortunately, to dig ourselves out of this self-created coffin-corner will require TIME. Time which simply means that, in the interim, we must protect our access to unstable Middle East suppliers until we bring our own assets on line. The latter exigency which could readily be scuttled by the Cut-And-Run crowd on Iraq. The regional chaos which would be precipitated by an Iranian regional hegemony subsequent to a precipitous American withdrawal from Iraq would make the current cost-escalation in energy supplies from the Middle East seem like the Golden Age of Yesteryear by comparison; and, most certainly would induce a much wider conflict/conflagration. The myopia of the Left on these circumstances is astounding. As history has repeatedly taught with grim consequences, PEACE and STABILITY are won only THRU STRENGTH; and, NOT THRU the nebulous psychosis of HOPE. However, with the current composition of the U.S. Senate that believes we can TAX our way out of our energy crisis, our Nation doesn't stand a prayer of extricating ourselves from this self imposed dilemma. Simply review the recent Senate action on HR 3121 where Harry Reid and his minions such as Clinton and Obama, in sync with the Left-Wing Fringe Elements in our society, voted AGAINST the opening of a miniscule portion of ANWAR; AGAINST shale oil extraction of which America has the equivalent of ten Saudi Arabia's in recoverable reserves; and, AGAINST accelerated efforts to facilitate the gasification of America's abundant reserves of coal. I know Obama doesn't know how right McCain is on the drilling issue...but what's interesting is...McCain doesn't know either. People are struggling and asking for someone to do something now...not ten years from now..but today. You can argue pro and con on drilling, but the perception will be.."at least McCain is trying to do something NOW". Why is this important? In the not to distant future this country will see food inflation the likes of which most of us alive today have never seen. In west (California's Central Valley..often refered to as the bread basket of the world) during the month of Feb farmer's and growers were preparing their fields with diesel fuel pruchased at approx $2.34 per gal...two month later they were and still are paying $4.00 and above. This means crops (food) will have been watered, cultivated, harvested, processed and transported to your favorite grocery store at what will seem like ungodly prices. It is then the "voters" will no longer be asking for someone to do something..they will be demanding it. Today many people (mainly women) are asking themselves, "do I fill the car or go to the grocery store..or do I only half fill the car and get half the groceries I need at the store?" I think food is cheap now compared to what's coming. I wonder if Obama's somewhere in the future energy plan will stand-up then?
