The story in Iraq is not winning but stability. After the fall of the Soviet Union there are not annihilation wars, hot, cold or otherwise. The destruction of mankind is too probable with modern weapons. So we are faced with asymmetrical fear wars of attrition where we compete for cultural, religious, social and economic stability. We went into Iraq with an annihilation strategy and thanks to an adaptive and intelligent military (Thank you General Petraeus - I know the liberals hate that) we learned how to fight and win an asymmetrical war through stability and influence. That is the headline story that is boring the media and will be the tragedy of a precipitous withdrawal. It is called reality and there are those in the media that find it reprehensible.
