Steve Stricker is the highest-ranked player in the AT&T National field. The majority of the world’s top golfers have chosen to skip next week’s AT&T National at Congressional, according to a final list of entrants for the tournament.
Only five of the world’s top 20 golfers will play in the $6 million purse event. Notable absences include Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia. The relatively poor field is exacerbated by the absence of tournament host Tiger Woods, who is recovering from knee surgery.
Steve Stricker, the world’s seventh-ranked golfer, will be the top player in the field.
The top 20 entrants include defending champion K.J. Choi, Masters champion Trevor Immelman, Jim Furyk and Anthony Kim. Other notables include Corey Pavin, Fred Funk and Rocco Mediate, who lost to Woods in a playoff at this year’s U.S. Open.
