Excellent article. These "Green" people seem to be one issue zealots. If we are to be sussessful in greening this country, then we must understand that a strong economy is necessary to make it happen. Our current economy is suffering, credit problems, inflation, trade deficits brought on by buying foreign oil at the tune of $500 Billion annually, and a weakening job market. If the Democratic Party would actually stop for a minute and look at more than half its rank and file, it will find folks from the lower spectrum of economic status. These folks simply cannot afford to make this radical left turn toward "Green".
The solution short term is to drill now and drill here, build nuclear power plants, and as green energy production production comes on line incorporate it. Hybrid and high mileage vehicles are a way to go, but those folks in the Democratic Party cannot afford to make that change now.
Duh! - Doesn't any leader in the Green movement see this - have they never studied economics?

When all is said and done, the US Government WILL be paying for everything in every district, or, have the right of refusal on all projects (The spectre of BIG BROTHER).
It starts with EAR-MARKS, proceeds to LOAN GUARANTEES, and ends at GRANTS. There goes government of-for and by the people, and here comes government at-to and against the people.
Seems EVERY elected official knows what's best for ALL of us, whether we agree or not!
Give me (us) a break, we're not THAT stupid!?!
