OP-ED: America's evolving standards

Senator Obama is a lawyer and a politician, therefore consensus becomes the ultimate decision parameter. We saw it with Clinton. They bombed the WTC, the Khobar Towers, the U.S. Embassies and the USS Cole. Clinton pursued legal reasons for not responding. When absolute consensus (being everything to everyone) becomes the primary critical success factor in actions, all efforts lead to an oscillation between what is right and wrong. We call the oscillation flip flopping. If Obama's statements were founded in his values rather than politics, there would be no oscillation.

Politicians are not real people. They are lawyers who seem to believe they have a higher calling. Take the words "Supposed To" and throw them out. Politicians are supposed to represent what the people want, but once they get elected, what the people want goes right out the window. There isn't a politician that hasn't made a decision in the last 70 years based on what the people truly wanted. If you want to know what a politician really thinks, just remember the song Dust in the Wind.

What a mish mash for an argument. First, Mr. Domenech cites nothing to show an overwhelming trend in america to execute child rapist. So as far this article is concerned both Justice Kennedy and and Mr. Domenech have pulled there positions from thin air. Not much of an argument to stand on there. Then Mr. Domenech twists and turns around votes and stmts by Senator Obama going back 12 years in a great effort to show how Sen. Obama's support for limit death penalties isn't really support for the death penalty of for child rapists even though Senator Obama stated plainly just this week he thought the Louisina law was constitutional. Then claims all this indicates he's a flip flopper. By my count I have now seen the right wing media claim Sen. Obama is really just like, President Carter, President Clinton, Gov. Dukakis, Sen. McGovern and Sen. Kerry. I guess you guys are in search of an imaginery negative image that gains traction with some section of the population. It also doesn't seem to matter which negative image. Your going to try them all and see if one sticks. Articles like this are just nausiating. I know its a warm feeling but doesn't the smell ever get to you guys having your head up your ass all day long.

For kc: We are looking for someone who bases their statements on what they believe and not what everyone wants to here. No amount of sarcasm or hubris is going to override that.
