SEEN AND HEARD IN VIERA, FLA.

DODGERS 6, NATIONALS 1

Odalis Perez pitched well in his first start against big leaguers. Brad Penny was far better.

The Los Angeles right-hander mowed through Washington’s lineup with five innings of one-hit ball. Only Pete Orr, who doubled in the second inning, managed a hit off Penny.

Perez, who had pitched in minor league camp because of visa issues, started strong with three scoreless innings but tired after that and allowed a wind-aided homer to Andre Ethier and was charged with two more runs after leaving in the fifth.
