WEEKEND PREVIEW WHAT TO WATCH FOR IN SPORTS

NCAA TOURNAMENT

The first Thursday and Friday of the NCAA tournament are the best two days in sports, but the first weekend isn’t too far behind. By Sunday night, the field of 65 will be pared down to 16, and many fans already will be tearing up their pool sheets.

CAPS at THRASHERS

Every single game like tonight’s in Atlanta is crucial. Consider that by the end of the weekend, Washington could control its own fate for a playoff spot.

PISTONS at WIZARDS

Washington has done well to stay afloat in the race for a playoff spot, and a win Sunday would be a huge boost before the team heads west for a five-game swing.

COPPIN STATE at MARYLAND WOMEN

After surprising some by earning a top seed in the NCAA tournament, the Terps look to get off to an easy start Sunday against the Eagles from just up the road. A win here and Nebraska or Xavier is the opponent in Round 2.
