Georgie,
You have today made another "foolish mistake" that is worse than mislocating the Ukraine.
I can believe Ayn Rand's "nonsense" because I actually read it before I pass judgement on it.
Maybe YOU should read Ayn Rand before summarizing her wrongly. Rand specifically defines her use of the terms "selfish" and "altruism."
In "The Virtues of Selfishness" she uses the term — obviously to those who have read it — with the meaning of self interest, without the negative of doing something to someone else's detriment.
With altruism — again obvious to anyone who has taken five minutes on the internet to search the term linked to Any Rand — she uses the term with the extreme meaning (for argument's sake) of giving up your own desires totally to work for the desires of others.
Since you so obviously don't know what you are talking about in this instance, I assume the the rest of your article is just as incompetent. (Some other parts are just as demonstrably so, but this one example is enough to eviscerate your entire argument.)
Mislocating the Ukraine is a mistake. Misstating Rand is either lazy reporting, or willful misinterpretation.
"Misstating Rand is either lazy reporting, or willful misinterpretation."
Considering the source, I vote for the latter.
