If we change the election process, lets be sure to move the date to April 16.
This is a serious comment. This is often offered humorously. But if we are going to make major changes, that is a change that SHOULD be made. Obviously the politicians won't touch this — unless there is a major grass roots push for it.
I would agree with Cornelius, there is no way that April 16th would ever work for an election. I am not sure why it is suddenly becoming a problem to vote on the first Tuesday of November. Seems to me that it has been working well for many many years now. Add that to the fact that early voting is now here and you can vote 1-2 weeks prior to the election there should be very little excuse for people to not be able to vote. Unless, of course they choose not to.
RE: National Federation of Independent Business, says it is the employer's responsibility to allow workers to vote.
Our local, state, and national voting methods are archaic - It should be the individual's responsibility to vote - no one elses - new legislation must be written to protect voters - a national election day holiday - alternative ways to cast a vote that does not require physical presence - more polling places - longer hours - more days -
Employers should not be blamed for not affording thier employees time to vote on voting days.
