Prayers to God that all funding is taken away from ACORN for a minimum of 7 years and then re-evaluated to see if they have cleaned up their highly questionable practices.

I think it would be a step in the right direction to start taxing ALL churches. Churches (in my opinion) are no different than corporations. They are selling a service (salvation or comfort) and pay their ministers/preachers/priests and their goal is to increase the number of donors and their property holdings.

One hopes this is the last straw for CCHD - that finally, after its "missteps" in contributing the funds of practicing American Catholics over the years to utterly contrary to the Faith, Leftist, and pro-abortion groups, it's funding of targeted, battleground state political organizing to the benefit of the pro-abortion party will see an appropriate response from the Bishops and due notice from Rome. ACORN IS WHAT IT IS..ORGANIZED HOODS TO STEAL THE ELECTION SAD DAY BUT TOO LATE...THE VOTING FRAUD IS TAKING PLACE IN AMERICA TODAY

It is likely that thugs in ACORN will threaten the weak church. Thugs in ACORN know how to extract money and wreak havoc and revenge. Police departments are secular and don't give a hoot about religion. The trend is bound to increase under the dictatorship of the left. With Obama in charge special prosecutors will all be in his favor, just like the affirmative action media. Society is numb to it all. Right on!

Individual Catholics have it within their control to stop this abuse. All they need to do is pass on the empty collection basket. No funds, no abuse. The one thing that can be said with absolute certainty about the US Catholic Bishops is that they clearly understand financial messages.

Firetoice, I generally agree w/your argument. Unfortunately over 90% of the money collected in the baskets go to the various utility bills & parish activities that local church has. A few times during the yr, there are special collections that go directly to the bishops' conferences. Those are the ones you do not donate to.

BannedMonique: I love your heart. You espouse the imminent change our Obama is about to inflict on Amerika the new. Amerika has been morphing at ever greater speeds. We are destined to transform into a secular Amerika to the fullest where life has the same meaning as material - a material world in its fullest as Marx defined it. I expect to be put to sleep before reaching my natural age of a natural death for death to the unproductive elderly who have nothing to be taxed is no different than aborting the life of fetus. It is logical and material. We are on our way to other planets with the belief in the new, a change to outright worship of material. Yet, I still love your heart.

Unfortunately, the Catholic Church has no idea what the money was used for and never will. If they get too close to the truth, the newly formed "Truth Squads" soon to be called the Civilian Security Forces will be used to put down any serious threats to the Obama Administration. Sounds wild but we had all better watch what seems to be a non threat to our freedoms or we will lose our constitutional rights one by one.

JCBPS, The CCHD collection on November 23rd was the one I had in mind. Actually, I plan to draw an acorn on a piece of paper and put it in the basket.

ACORN has showed it cannot be trusted. No money should be given to it. And certainly no federal funds....unless the Democrats want to fund one of their choice vote making machines and be accountable for their misdeeds.

If Obama is elected this investigation will go no where, and ACORN will be allowed to continue to work to steal elections for the Democrats.

See how many federal attorney's get canned by the Obamination. Clinton canned all of them in 1993. See if the press even makes a peep when BHO eliminates any possible DOJ cops investigating their election thuggery. God save the Republic!

"I also have to wonder if most Catholic’s know about, much less agree with the way the church spends their donations." ZacharyD, Where I live I know more about the finances of my local parish & diocese than I do w/the UCCB. This financial nonsense of the UCCB has been going on for years.

I would think ACORN’s federal tax status is as a non partisan group, which I doubt they really are. The American people are funding a leftist political group. I also have to wonder if most Catholic’s know about, much less agree with the way the church spends their donations. If Dale Rathke embezzled almost a million dollars then how can he still be heading up ACORN's international nonprofit arm?
