For all the hoopla advising Obama to go centrist, I just don't see it. Emanuel is not centrist. Nancy Pelosi has stated they will go centrist after Democrat priorities and when the Democrats find the common ground. They have control of the economy, they have control of the Congress, they have control of the presidency, they have the media and they have vacancies coming up in the Supreme Court and those the Federal system that they wouldn't allow Bush to fill. They have it all, why should they let the pendulum swing back to the middle? Pelosi's speech just before the bailout vote provided the insight to any centrist plans. Obama's boot of three McCain endorsed newspaper reporters from his campaign plane, like his voting record, tells us what lays ahead. The dissent stops here. As they conquer, so shall they rule.
Right on, soxconn! Obama could campaign on anything he wanted to knowing he had a liberal congress to give him the legislation he really wanted to enact - higher taxes on all, gov't healthcare, gov't run energy policy, etc. He ran as a centrist knowing full well he could govern as a liberal. That's having your cake and eating it, too!
