Wizards report
Saturday night at Amway Arena in Orlando, Fla.
SEEN AND HEARD
Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas is bubbling over with Barack Obama pride. After ordering copies of Wednesday’s historic editions from every major newspaper in the country, Agent Zero has taken his excitement a step further.
Arenas got tattoos on the inside of each finger of his left hand to commemorate the historic presidential election. Together, the tattoos read “Change we believe in.” On the outside of his left pinkie is “44” - because Obama is the 44th president.
Arenas said after the Wizards landed in Orlando at 2 a.m. Saturday, he “went over to my guy in Miami” to get the ink done.
“Hopefully he’ll come to some basketball games,” Arenas said of Obama. “When he does, I’m already having the No. 44 jersey made up and having him sign it for me.”
INJURY REPORT
Point guard Antonio Daniels, who had gotten off to a slow start, was inactive because of soreness and swelling in his right knee. A sprained MCL in the knee forced Daniels out of nine games last season. Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said the knee had bothered Daniels, who is averaging 5.5 points and 4.5 assists, since the start of training camp. Juan Dixon started in Daniels’ place.
