. President Bush should know when you reach out to a snake you will get bit. .

One thing never changes. Dems have no class.

Obama needs to fire the aide the leaked the private info today. Until he does, no world leader or diplomat will ever trust a private conversation with the new president. It is a national security risk to have aides that run to the press every-time they hear a private conversation.

Justfacts oh brother, gop talking about class is like Benedict Arnold talking about patriotism! Just two examples in 2000 the bushies claimed that McCain had a child of color suggesting it was his. Then McCain's team wants the gov's clothes back. With the drop in her approval in AK, and that the ticket gained support with the base she earned it. So if you want to talk about class get some!

I'll take the stimulus--I never turn down a check from the government!

It isn't a stimulus we need...what we need is to make permanent the 2001 tax cuts, to permanently cut to 5% the Capital Gains tax, and to cut the Corporate Income Taxes by half to promote repatriation of overseas earnings. High taxes on income encourage less productivity, less earning, hence fewer jobs, and greater economic malaise. If the Democrats in Congress wanted to stabilize the economy they would do these three things...however their goal is instability, not stability.

Obama has not been the sort who plays well with others, so why would he want to start now. His main goal is always been to make himself look good. It will be interesting how he will blame this on Bush?

First of all, in the sentence "While the topic of Columbia came up..." you need to correct the spelling to "Colombia". Second, I think the President should tie the stimulus package to the Colombian free-trade agreement. As it stands now - Colombia sends their exports to the US with reduced tariffs. The agreement is designed to give US businesses the same kind of benefit. Why Obama and the Democrats are opposed to this (or why they care about Colombian labor groups) is just odd. If you want to help revive the economy, help US businesses to sell things.

CharlieSmite - I'm sure you were just as outraged at Cheney's outing of Valerie Plame. Did you insist on his and Rove's firing by the President, even after W said he would dismiss anyone in his branch that might have been involved? Probably not. Both parties are guilty of cloak and dagger skulduggery. I would prefer that the media not print any comments made "anonymously". If you want to be a conniving douche bag, then embrace it and let everyone know who you are.

Tim Tim Tim wake up those at the top will wind up with the cash however we do it. It's just if you give it directly to them they will be the only ones who benefit, let the rest of America share in the wealth. It is on the backs of the American worker,(the most productive) that these fat cats have their 400 million dollar bonuses in the first place!

Riveting. Ten bucks says the Dems get what they want on this. I bet that the voters who just put Obama into office want to see a stimulus package enacted quickly, and they want to see the money go to companies where the flow of money from executives to workers is less abstract. Really smart inside game here by Obama to force the Republicans hand on not directing money to the auto industry. Suddenly, it's on the table.

Total set up! No more bailouts - call your senators and congressmen and INSISt that the govt bleeding be halted! The more "bailouts" (handouts) the govt does, the more invested the govt becomes... recipe for long term weakness. Demand accountability - what about AIG? How did that work? Where did the money go? Why do they need MORE now? Does it offend you to know that the NEWSPAPERS want to be NEXT??!! Collossal incompetence, deceit and self-serving and NOW they want a bailout? Hell NO!!
