This is why the exploding national debt must be viewed as a threat to our national security. As a nation, we've been getting a free ride and letting the good times roll for decades now. How much longer did we think it was going to be before our lenders would use our status as binge debtors as leverage to influence our federal government's policies? Even now, America is racking up debts far faster than the next generation or the one after that one can afford to pay. We're not making the tough choices now --- such as guns vs. butter, more entitlements vs. self-reliance, which global crisis to get involved in vs. minding our own business. That's a failure of leadership by our politicians. But, as a people, much as we might hate to admit it, our leaders are really a collective reflection of us as a people, and they're giving us what we want --- lots and lots of goodies with the illusion that we don't have to pay for it. Well, we do and we will. And so will our kids to a much greater degree than we can ever imagine now. If we continue to fail in our responsibilities as a nation to manage our fiscal affairs intelligently and maturely, other nations that prop our financial structures up are going to demand something more than just interest payments in return. For the Muslims, obeisance to Sharia. For the Chinese, increasing trade concessions, a blind eye to their growing hegemony and exploitation of the third world, and abandonment of Taiwan. For Europe, greater environmental restrictions and submission to a one-world government via the United Nations. On our present path as a country, it is only natural for things to go this way, but it is not yet inevitable. We've got to get our government's spending under control, and get the budget balanced. If we don't, we will lose our independence --- not explicitly, but insidiously in a thousand invisible ways. By the time our weakened state becomes apparent by that time, it will be too late.

A word to the wise Sharia advocates - Get the Main Stream Media on your side. If they can get a President elected, hell, convincing the ignorant masses of the benefits of Sharia Law should be a cinch. Whoa whoa whoa whoa let me correct myself here. That's too hard. Hows about this - just convince Obama of the benefits of Sharia Law and you get the whole kit-and-caboodle ... the MSM, the ignorant masses, academia, Congress, the Courts, the Schutzstaffel ... much much easier!
