Fraternities started out as essentially Catholic organizations, and in America were at their earliest associated with Freemasonry and general Christian ideology. It is interesting that they have degenerated into houses with no uniting principles other than unrestrained indulgence in the basest whims, and now Christians find themselves a "renegade" outside force scorned by university administration.
