Brittanicus

Most of the Problem is, Republicans are not Conservatives anymore. They have destroyed their own platform, by being in collusion with big corporations and businesses. As an Independent, I had a choice. Vote for the usual indifferent party to Americans concerns, or vote for somebody who may change the financial landscape. Instead of the dribble of money to the lower ranks. Let their be a fountain from the working people who are the ones, who make the money for the fat cats. In my eyes nobody can fault Lou Dobbs, because without his in-depth investigative journalism, THE PEOPLE would be left in the dark about most issues. My priorities are health care, outsourcing, importation of illegal slave labor, selling America to foreign governments like China, Arab Emirates, our collapsing infrastructure, defunding of the border fence by Nancy Pelos, Harry Reid and the most urgent issue ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Since I have been watching LOU DOBBS, I have become an advocate for his ideology. The issues that concern me is the corruption that we face every day from Washington. That's why I took full membership in JUDICIAL WATCH. They are a legal team an organization made up of lawyers, investigators, and concerned citizens." It was established in 1994 "to serve as an ethical and legal watchdog over our government, legal, and judicial systems. This legal group is very pro-sovereignty, anti-illegal immigration and works to protect American workers and the legal population. Take a trip to their website and read the positive lawsuits they have pending and won against corrupt politicians and the criminal element that surrounds us. JUDICIAL WATCH has brought ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION to the forefront, because they realize the substantial losses to the American people in trillions of dollars every year to accommodate the worlds poor. That 'Sanctuary cities and state policies are killing millions of Americans every year, because they promote shielding illegal aliens. JUDICIAL WATCH knows the true number of illegal immigrants settled here, not the propaganda offered by the Liberal press. Find the time to read the facts at www.judicialwatch.org, Factual information can be found at www.numbersusa.com YOU MUST DECIDE OUR COUNTRIES FUTURE? Please sign our petition demanding President-elect Barack Obama to support American workers over illegal aliens by rejecting an illegal alien amnesty. Illegal aliens take job opportunities away from the most vulnerable Americans in skilled and unskilled positions. To force through an amnesty for illegal aliens would hurt American workers. As long ago as a 1996 study, a Rice University economist estimated that illegal aliens were then displacing 730,000 American workers a year. 112621 citizens have signed since Nov 6 THE PETITION DOES NOT REQUIRE AN ADDRESS; JUST A CITY AND STATE: numbersusa.com

The good news is this vindicates conservatism. When the Republican Party both talked and walked the conservative line - think Ronald Reagan - it enjoyed an unparalleled period of success and prosperity both nationally and within Pennsylvania. But, as moderation took hold, the GOP moved away from those principles with the resulting electoral carnage. ******************************** Wrong,The public has wised up to trickle down, deregulation has caused a financial crisis,Ronald Reagan was a failure this crisis begins with him and culminates with his greatest disciple GW.Bush. Abortion, gay marriage, all the wedge issues that were used before will not attract the voters whose retirement savings were decimated. The 9 trillion dollar national debt that belongs to Reagan and Bush administrations will keep republicans out of power for 40 years at least.

When Barney Frank's male lover ran a male prostitution ring out of Barney Frank's basement, and Gerry Studds, who bragged about his sexual relations with a young male page and was relected six times, Democrats will circle the wagon, unlike Republicans who throw their bad apples under the bus. This is the difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Conservatism means different things to different people. For some, it means, a strong USA with security from external and internal enemies, a strong economy for others and strong cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious identity for others. For example, Brittanicus is arguing for keeping out illegal aliens as a priority, basically putting emphasis on national identity. I believe, the reason for GOP's defeat is the failure of GOP to accurately judge US people's priority and argue for that cause. In this election, the economy was the number one priority. I can’t blame anyone in GOP for this because the economic problem hit USA suddenly in September. McCain focused on strong security for USA from the outset and there is no one who could fault him on that at that time. The economy became an issue only later on with McCain shifting his emphasis on to lower taxes. Secondly, GOP as a whole, failed to back up President George W Bush, arguably, one of the best presidents along with Abraham Lincoln. He and Vice President Dick Cheney, carried out a wonderful job to ensure that a strong USA remains a relevant super power when it was confronted by its Islamist enemies determined to impose a totalitarian system using blackmail and terror. When Obama taunted McCain about being same as Bush, no one in GOP defended Bush’s record in office. At least, for the minimum, the GOP should have said that it is better to be same as Bush than Obama. I hope, you would take this as a constructive criticism from an independent source who wishes well for GOP because I am neither a Republican, nor a Democrat. I am not even an American, but, as a Briton, I want to see the preservation of the superpower status of USA because it serves well for my country and many freedom loving nations. Therefore, Republicans should not blame each other that someone was not conservative enough and so on. But, in future, they have to defend the record of their administration and judge which conservative policies should be emphasised most. Above all, you need to be lucky that there are no September/October surprises that overturn your judgment.

HENRY: Thinning the GOP's Herd 11/13/08 In the U.S. news-media's Newspeak, there are two political classes in this country: "moderate" and "far-right." You will never hear the U.S. news-media refer to the "far left," because in Newspeak, there can be no such thing. Red-eyed, foaming-at-the-mouth Marxists are included in the term "moderate." Therefore--with the deck rigged like that, the Republican party can never become as "moderate" as the Democratic party; and if it tries, it will commit suicide. Throughout the 20th century, an ideological war raged in the U.S. between the socialists and the traditionalists. The socialists demand an all-powerful central government to enforce upon the country their religion of secular humanism ("economic justice" and "social justice"), which will dictate how the public must think, speak, and act--a la Rousseau and Soviet Russia. The traditionalists wish to continue the limited constitutional-government which made the U.S. the greatest nation in the world, and which gave them plenty of elbow room to live their lives as they wished. At the beginning of the 20th century, the traditionalists were still firmly in the driver's seat. But by the 1960s, the socialists had gained control of the mainstream (print and TV) news-media, and of the education system. Also, the supercapitalists who move most of the money in the U.S. decided that they could get richer quicker by owning a socialist government. And under a series of strong leftist presidents (Wilson, FDR, Truman, and LBJ), the Democratic party also became socialist. FDR concocted the New Deal Democrats largely out of immigrants and other ethnic minorities. In 1965, the LBJ Democrats rerigged our immigration laws to favor Third Worlders (who would be attracted to the Democratic party) at the expense of Western Europeans (who would most likely be Republicans). Right now, there are still more traditionalists than socialists in America; and it is with the traditionalists that the future of the Republican party lies. But to gain their loyalty, the Republican party will have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk--as they have been doing. With the inexcusable performance of the Republican Congress, and of George W. Bush, whom I believe was one of the worst presidents the country has ever had; and with the Republicans' 2008 candidate, Sen. McCain, promising more of the same, I am amazed that Obama didn't get a wider point-spread. If the Republicans will return to their core beliefs, as Mr. Henry proposes above, they can still attract a majority. If they become wannabe Democrats (as so many are proposing in this newspaper right now), they're done for. And if they just sit back and allow the flood of illegals from Mexico to continue, and don't force the government to send home the ones who are already here, then the Democrats will permanently gain the upper hand, and we can kiss our country goodbye.

Actually collardgreens, you will occasionally hear the US news media refer to the "far left": Obama Supporters on the Far Left Cry Foul (NY Times July 13, 2008) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/us/politics/13liberal.html?scp=3&sq=%22far%20left%22&st=cse I agree with Mr Henry's litany of failures of the GOP, however I question his conclusion that "The good news is this vindicates conservatism"... This moderate PA native was hopeful about the McCain bid UNTIL he tapped Palin for his running mate... I think the GOP needs to abandon the self-conflicted "values" discussion and be very cautious about the anti-intellectual/anti-science chatter that comes out of some on the far right...

TruthSpeakerNONE, you are so ignorant that it is a wonder you don't drown when rains. Trickle down economics has worked beautifully for over 25 years. It was the meddling of Democrats in the housing social engineering experiment that brought the economy down. Do you really think that taking money from the job creators and investors, and giving it to the welfare queens, will stimulate the economy? Do you think having the second highest corporate tax rate in the world will attract businesses and manufacturing to the US? do you really think that crippling our industries with carbon taxes will encourage them to hire more workers, and make them produce more energy? Drink the Kool-aid, buddy; soon, it might be all you can afford.

When given a clear choice, Americans almost always go with the Conservatives, even if they are not as conservative as the candidates. Why? Because they still believe in individual responsibility, limited government, and social justice (as in limits on abortions, heterosexual marriage, welfare limitations, etc.). If the concepts and principles of Conservatism are clearly explained, and ADHERED TO, there will be no problem taking the Congress in two years. If not, we might as well start a new party, and spend the next ten years building it. People mostly want character in government, but they continually vote in people who claim to have character, and promise to give them largess from other Americans. Frankly, Americans have become stupid and gullible.

Reagan entered with a national debt of 954 billion dollars, Clinton left office with a budget surplus now the national debt is 10 trillion 500 billion dllars. A great success but not for the average person. ScottVa you are a hoot.

Well, you know what they say: You sometimes have to hit rock bottom in order to look up and remember where you came from. It can be a very good thing, and the Republican illuminati (whoever they may be) should see it that way.
