Yet another hugely expensive boondogle on a non problem. For crying out loud, lets put energy and resources into fixing real problems, like Social Security and medicare/medicaid. This kind of crap must be a sign of the end times!

This is a state of fear article. Whoever wrote it is trying to revive Al Gore's insurance policy model for man made Global Warming or Climate Change or whatever they call it today. It worked for Y2K and Big Al, and the global governists pulling his strings are trying to use the same fear mongering here to build carbon as a currency for global control of energy. The current economic crisis has provided government control of the economies. Free market is dead in the U.S., the President is the CEO and the Congress is the board of directors. If they can gain control of energy, governments have it all. This article and those similar to it are just trying to scare the population into buying global warming disaster insurance when they can't even predict the weather 10 days in advance. The real national security issue will occur if Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov is correct, the weather is predominantely controlled more by solar activity not carbon, we are headed for a cooling trend and guess what we haven't developed the carbon energy resources available and they won't be ready for years. How many people will starve to death while we shift from warming to cooling contingency plans and carbon was not the cause.

This is a bogus article. The military is not worried about climate change. Global Warming is not within their constitutional responsibilities and it only becomes so through presidential orders. The role of the military is to defend the people of the UNITED STATES, not global crisis management. That's what the U.N. wants to use it for. The military's greatest concern is that the president will turn it into the Hollow Force of the Carter Era and the end of the Clinton Era. This really looks like an attempt to pave the way to shift funding from vital military programs such as force readiness to non problem environmental programs. I guess Kevin Bacon is at the center of it all.

Most interesting. In our traditional, contemporary Godless society where science attends to human needs and hopes in dealing with unknowns, modern man under the untested and theoretical leadership of the One is preparing to augur the behaviors of Zues, Zephers, Poseidon, etc. so material resources can materially and spiritually prepare to cope as the society, economy, political, and military statuses of our country is deteriorating before our eyes and we become a genuine third world nation, but we will be prepared.

Clarence: That's the best sentence I've read today.

Honestly, what is really going on here is twofold: one group of US military "leadership" (I use the term in quotes because they are more like managers than leaders, but that is for another discussion) is most likely genuinely trying to look at the "big picture", they feel if enough interest is being generated in something, then its worth trying to get prepared, even if they are not quite sure how or why...and the other group is just trying to curry favor with the new boss...careerist ladder climbers who care more about looking good to whoever writes their performance report than making sure REAL military business is getting done and care NOT how the country is affected, or reality for that matter, as long as their career is solid...I know that it is NO different in the corporate world, just names and methods change, but the basic situations are the same...by and large, I'm sure most folks in the military just go to work and do their jobs, and I'm sure that "climate change" (funny how it was global warming, until the earth started to cool back down a bit) means no more than a hill of beans to them...

For all you "Nay Sayers" out there remember this. We may have lost this battle, 2008 elections, but we have not lost the war. We, as well as the Democrats, have some great ideas to put forth. Time will tell whether they will be accepted or if the Obama administration will stick to a more socialist agenda. All their programs will not pass, like it or not. As example, the intelligence agenda will be one to watch. Are they going to revert back to the days where we cannot keep track of potential adversaries, will we maintain human assets ability, or continue to monitor required communication links to retain our homeland security. I only hope that the Democrats ALLOW true partisanship links open. What I am seeing from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, so far, does not show it.

When are we going to tell the developing world that they have to stop with this overpopulation. If they can't learn to stop breeding, I think it is in the interest of the world to let them die -- not overrun other countries. This is Malthus in full swing.

The Arctic is melting opening the Northwest Passage and a monumental Global positive. The Antarctic is freezing over tenfold? This Hansen guy from NASA is cooking the books as is the UN IPCC as they have been called to task 3 times. Liars! I would not believe one thing the Democrats say since they took over weather forecasting.

When did a bunch of retiree's and former military become the military? This headline is disinformation.

Climate change used to be Global Warming, until temperatures started to cool. So, just change your phrase and you are still right. The entire carbon hysteria is about another way to extort tax money from countries, business and citizens. You notice that every "fix" scenario boils down to "credits" and "payments". And who can we get to oversee a global carbon regulation and taxation? The United Nations of course. And then they will have their own funding source apart from nation contributions. Then they will have the power to be independent of the nations. Then they will have the power to rule the world. Disgusting

Throughout the Bible, God has punished mankind for his foolishness and greed. Among the sins that are continually condemned are failure to care for the poor and needy, which is the outcome of selfish preoccupation with one's own prosperity. We in the Western world have become so obsessed with our own material well-being that we can no longer control our appe---es, and the damage that we are doing to the environment is just one aspect of that selfishness and greed. Make no mistake - God will allow us to be punished. The sad part is that the punishment will also fall on the innocent. By ignoring the harm we are doing to the plant, we are saying that we simply don't care about the millions who will die in the ensuing floods, droughts, hurricanes, rising sea levels. The way we escape our responsibility is by denying that these things will happen. Just like Noah's neighbors laughed when he built the ark.
