No, Republicans do NOT want Democrats to fail miserably. We all live here and aren't into causing self-destruction. However, most Republicans do expect the Democrats to fail miserably because of their leftist agenda and past experience. Congress is down to a 9 percent approval, and the Democrats worked hard to get there.

The constitutional argument is a Republican smokescreen: the GOP would NEVER accept two black, liberal, Democratic senators. That's the real story.

Apparantly JohnAlex did not read the article. If he had he would know it was the Democrats who has prevented a Constitutional Amendment to allow D.C. voting rights. ------------------ The Democrat Party has pulled itself (draging the GOP with it) much to the left. I believe that many citizens calling themselves Democrats do not really know what the party supports theses days. As long as the Democrat Party can keep their members in the dark they remain powerful. The Democratic Party must maintain a public relations campaign of deception. When the people begin to see and understand the socialist and other policies that contradict the founding fathers the Democratic Party will loose power. However if the citizens begin to open their eyes and actually choose socialism then America as we have known her will take a different shape.

JohnAlex - the real story is that Democrats are all for the parts of the Constitution they like but want to ignore the parts they don't like. In some cases, it is even worse. Freedom of speech is good, when it's a Democrat doing the talking (say anyone on the nightly newscasts of ABC, CBS or NBC). But it's bad if it's someone from Fox News. It's good if it is from anyone on NPR (National Progressive Radio), but really really bad if it is Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, or Laura Ingram or ... Well you get the picture.

Even though the dems are expected to muck up over the next four years, republicans can't just expect to re-take control of anything without doing some housecleaning and fencemending beforehand. It took a lot of republicans mucking up to allow the dems to be in a position where now it is their turn to muck up.

Praetorian

After suffering the last eight years with my own party controlling congress, the majority of governorships, and the Presidency, regardless what my party leadership hopes will befall the Democrats in the days to come, I for one can not believe it will be anywhere near as bad as the nightmare they delivered upon their own people. I may not vote Democrat in the future, but I surely will not vote Republican. Most likely, I will sit out until the day comes when faith in my government returns. Personally, I do not believe that will happen.
