There are two key words here. Unnamed sources. This gives the media the right to say anything remotely similar. It does not have to be "true", after all what is truth. The spin that became acceptable in the 1990's and the definition of "is" have given the mainstream media an entire of world of relativism to print, regardless of the "truth" behind it. For them it has become a superright capable of public trials and convictions without habeas corpus.

It is possible, even likely, that the media fabricated the "anonymous" stories to further the leftist extremist agenda. Dems are afraid of popular, bright, gorgeous, sane, non-neurotic, sexy Sarah. It's easy to quote a non-existent source by claiming it's anonymous. And I like the comparison to the (slimy) John Edwards afair, whcih the press hid.

When McCain "bought" the 'man made' global warming garbage, he literally blew any chances he had to win the election. Global Warming is a RED HERRING. It is LIE promulgated by THE LEFT to help them destroy the US Economy, which is exactly what will happen if their IDIOTIC energy policies are enacted into law by the Reid-Pelosi left-wing-gangsters. Economics 101 reveals that the two biggest COSTS faced by any manufacturer are WAGES and ENERGY. If The Left is able to drive up the cost of energy by a factor of anywhere from 3 to 10 they will have rendered U S producers INCAPABLE of competing at home, much less in the global marketplace. The Left will have won and the U S will be HISTORY. By failing to stand up to the LIARS of THE LEFT, McCain earned the DISGUST of millions of conservatives, all of whom knew he was sucking up to The Left. In addition, he earned, fully deserved, the UTTER CONTEMPT of our leftist enemies. If the Republicans fail to hold the Senate filibuster line, you can bet that McCain's sheer STUPIDITY may very well result in the end of this country as a democratic republic.

I've never heard anyone say that they voted for Obama because of his views on global warming. McCain's choice of Palin was a gamble that paid off for a short time until she proved that she was unable to convince us that she would be ready for the job if elected. Even if the media did not reveal the anonymous trashing from "McCain's insiders", Palin had already done damage to her image on her own. The world's climate scientists are overwhelmingly in agreement that the current rise in the atmospheric greenhouse gas level is due to man's activities on the planet. You may be the type of person that refuses to trust any data coming from international bodies such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. If so, then believe the US National Academy of Science—the most prestigious scientific body in the United States—which concurs that human activities are the predominant factor in the current increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases and the resulting warming trend.http://www.grinningplanet.com/2005/06-21/global-warming-facts-article.htm

I put blame on: (1) the unnamed source; (2) McCain; AND (3) the MEDIA that reported the stories -- no media should report any stories from "unnamed" sources unless the stories have been independently confirmed by credible sources first! If no confirmation, no story! (I want all the reporters reporting one-unnamed-source-stories to be tagged "The Dope Media of the Year!")

This article is ridiculous. This quote: "They may be patently false, but there is no way Mrs. Palin can prove they are false. Hence there is no way she can outfox the disinformation campaign." Hey, why not focus on the bias of the media which is clearly the problem? That, and the fact that they clearly aren't doing their jobs as MSNBC had to retract its story about Palin earlier this week. A retraction doesn't cut it. The damage has already been done. Sure, the McCain campaign could have been more proactive about this, but were they proactive about anything in the campaign? The problem is the media here, and clearly Debra is part of the media.

Debra Saunders needs help, serious help. It is hard to believe what I see written these days. I had two years of journalism in school, was actually an editor the last year and I know good journalism when I see. I haven't seen much of it lately. To suggest the burden of proof is on the person being lied on is dumb. What has happened is Sarah Palin has been vindicated and the leakers are no longer leakers, they are LIARS! Someone please help Ms. Saunders understand that FACT and help her write something that makes sense next time. I know she is up against deadlines but try to write an intelligent, conhesive article. This article wreaks of poor journalism. Once again Palin has been vindicated, the LIARS have been discovered, enough said!

Trying to right a false rumor is like trying to unring a bell. The media is hard at work earning their Constitutional right of freedom of the press. If something analogous to this situation from the Bush administration, the press would be screaming for heads to roll. The one thing I do know is that for the last 8 years everything wrong that happened anywhere was Bush's fault. After January 20 we won't have Bush in there to screw everything up. So therefore the new president will be doing everything right and everything will be fine and dandy. If it isn't then the new president will be at fault. Goes around, comes around. Obama campaigned on being the one to make it all OK, he has a Dem House and Senate and media, so nothing is standing in his way, no excuses! I am looking forward to all the problems taken care of in the first 100 days, the honeymoon.

Unconfirmed or unnamed source says it all for me. A big lie by the media to sell print or retain viewers. The MSM is in a total panic losing millions in advertising print, laying off staff and need something to keep afloat. Well from my view they destroyed themselves by their free for all on Palin while Edwards walked free, Obama not truly vetted and so it comes home to roost now that the public refuses to believe them on anything.

What if someone printed that an unnamed source saw Obama coming out of Hillary's bedroom pulling up his pants. The NAACP would track them down and they would be jailed for a hate crime and sent of to the salt mines never to be seen again.

“They may be patently false, but there is no way Mrs. Palin can prove they are false. Hence there is no way she can outfox the disinformation campaign.” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . McCain probably should have jumped on it right away. The source probably was the cowardly architects of defeat. The "Media" repackaged the worthless product to pimp in the international “news” market probably confirming their moral bankruptcy. Less discerning and people who should know better probably mistook or accepted the trash as truth, at least for a little while. Mammoth energy-producing state Governor Sarah Palin probably looks better and better as a party leader to real Conservatives who know the best accolade is denigration by the opposition.

Palin is a victim of her own choosing. She engaged in smears and false innuendo against Obama in her campaign and is now the recipient of the same actions against herself. Proverbs 26:27 says it best: "If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him."

The bible also says don't argue with fools, or soon no one will be able to tell which is which. personholecover: are you sure you are not a conservative? You actually have a good sense of humor. enjoyed it.

SallySue123: Nice try with the recycled Gore-speak. The NAS in fact indicated that there was no consensus among the scientists who actually do atmospheric and climate research. In fact, the committee proposed that the temporary warming trend that was observed was best explained by non-human sources that cycle periodically. And sure enough, now we see that we are actually in a cooling period. When non-scientists try to appear more knowledgeable through selective quotation of data/opinion, we all lose.
