The Obamas would be derelict in their parental duty if they enroll their children in the DC schools. No matter how beholden Mr. Obama is to the NEA, he and his wife must look to their daughters' needs first.
Mr. Page is correct in his assertion that vouchers aren't the solution to the existing problems in education. They are, however, a good measure to help break the stranglehold that teachers' unions hold over the educational system.
Miss Rhee's comments about proper standards gives a clue about the way to go. Bottom line for all education is to teach the student to learn on their own. That is not being done in today's "system" in which the teachers are either unable to teach or hamstrung by stupid rules and lack of discipline.
Last, but certainly not least, parents must care and demand good eduction and not indoctrination for their children. As a bonus, remove the Federal Government from its unconstitutional role in education.
