Mr. Obama can and may surround himself with all of his rivals to set up fall guys if he wants. Ultimately, only the One is responsible for the road to the United States becoming a third world nation while China continues to build its military founded on Command oversight pseudo capitalism and Russia marches backward to bring the old Soviet Union's states back in the fold as United States is tired out and no longer willing and able to intervene in other nation's affairs.

I sincerely hope that BHO gets this mentally retarded RINO out of the Republican party, and others like him, so that Conservatives can regain control of the GOP and start getting ready to give BHO the heave-ho in 2012, in the unlikely event that we are still a viable country then.

. God help McCain if he drinks the Obama kool-aide. .

What I think is most repellant in our great nation lies between the lines of the first two comments on this article. The residual racism and petty partisan sniping toward the most thoughtful, articulate and considerate President-elect for a generation just astounds me. And no, I'm not an 'obamanaut'. Never was. Just a disenfranchised Republican who saw the confederacy of such dunces (like Messrs. Clarence and Palmetto) insidiously taking over our common sense, dignity as a nation and moral high ground. There is no room left for this repugnant meatheaded divisiveness in our country, nor can we afford it. To Messr's Palmetto and Clarence: I pray you God speed that all people who still think like you go somewhere far, far away, and leave us patriots with the hard graft required to repair our great nation after 8 years of george Bush. You may have given up but the majority of us with even a shred of spirit left within us certainly haven't.

This country is in deep trouble on so many levels, we need intelligent, level-headed, pragmatic leadership to get us out of this quagmire. Let's give President-elect Obama a chance. It's a sign of his strength and confidence that he's already reaching across party lines to put together the most effective team possible. As the holiday season approaches, let's follow the request of Senator John McCain and join him in not only congratulating President-elect Obama, but offering him our goodwill and earnest effort to find ways to come together to address the many problems plaguing this troubled nation. Our collective enemy is this economy, poverty, poor education, the lack of health-care and, internatlionally, Al Qaida, not our fellow Americans! Let's unite to restore America's dignity.

Thank you for one of the more honest, accurate and bold posts on this article posted so far. It is quite likely there will be no others posted which put the true facts in the light they deserve.

ohiogirl, WHY should we give Obama a chance when your side never, ever gave Bush a chance? He was called every name in the book from the get-go by your side. Commander-in-thief, president chimp, I could go on and on. If Obama got a tenth of the abuse, I'm sure your side would be crying foul, or probably racism! Back in 2000, all the libs were carping about how GWB stole the election, well now I can carp that Obama BOUGHT it!

Dear Roush6, no I wouldn't try to do that because you clearly don't have any, sadly. Had you paid one iota of attention, instead of knee-jerk reacting, I said I WAS a Republican. Get it? WAS a Republican. For 27 years. But you know, it's really the sort of small-minded folk like you who REALLY get my goat - and not because I give two cents for your opinion, It's because you spread your ignorance on posts like this, posing as a Republican, when in actuality you are something entirely different. People like you aren't Republicans. You're just knee-jerk, small-minded reactionaries who hate progress, and a shameful disgrace to this great nation. Showboating your profane ignorance and hatred for this great nation does nothing toward Her progress. Your petty, tit-for-tat absurdly divisive response to Ohiogirl merely proves my point.

Knowing McCain, and the overall problem with seemingly ANYONE who's spent any time in Congress, is that McCain was probably privately discussing his part in an Obama administration 6 months ago. The GOP needs to remember: Reagan! NOT McCain! It's not brain surgery to realized that Palin's popularity is due in large part that she's NEVER BEEN associated with a 14% approval-rated congress.

The only smart thing the United States can do now if we are to survive the next four years is to have a huge photo op of President Obama setting proudly at his desk in the Oval office looking Presidential. Then send this famous picture and wonderful picture around the world with this message, we dumb ass Americans made great history, we elected a inexperenced man because he is black and aren't we proud. But quietly and behind the scenes and God help us, for security purpose's put our national interest in the hands of Robert Gates and General Petraeus who does have the experience to guide us through these dangerous trying times. And to keep Obama happy in the meantime and out of trouble, have a staff member follow him around with a Teleprompter with scripted messages only. And to play it safe, they should be hid'n Biden in a closet with a huge mirror so he can entertain himself since he is the smartest man in the room (closet) just ask him. .

palmetto: Obama can only move us to 3rd world status if Congress goes along. Our pathetic congress has always been a bigger problem than whoever is President. So how did 3 of the 4 candidates in the last election end up coming from our US congress? I bet it had something to to with McCain/Feingold - but also that media prefers symbolic targets rather than the real ones. There is a huge disconnect in what is ACTUALLY wrong with this country - it's not the Presidency for the most part. What we need are congressional TERM LIMITS, fast.

Another thing we could use, although I'm willing to wait for a non-socialist President to be in office for this, is a line-item veto for the chief exec... It could still be overridden by a 2/3 congressional majority, but it would at least let the people's business be done far more efficiently.

Kal. You must have NEVER been a Republican, if you beleived then what you apparently beleive now. Where exactly did you glean the "hatred" from Palmetto & Clarence? You must have always been the same malcontent low self esteem having crybaby in order to label such comments as "hateful". I suppose its typical of the mass liberal hypnosis of society these days. Anyone who doesn't march lock-step with the PC party line is "hateful" or "racist" or "un-patriotic". What a load of hot, steamy BS!! Last I checked, this country was founded on discourse. It's part of a representative democracy & gives BALANCE to overall political opinion. I'm only 29. I'm a PROUD, CONSERVATIVE Jewish Repub. I beleive that our party & conservatism isn't about race or groups. If you beleive in hard work, keeping the fruits of said hard work, beleive that THE MAN is the PROBLEM & not the solution, & have a faith in God by whatever name you call Him, then you are, for the most part, a conservative. What made, & STILL make this country great, is that you can fail as many times as possible, yet if you play by the rules, you can re build yourself as many times as is needed to make yourself a success. Gov't just gets in the way. It takes more of what people earn to give to those who don't work as hard. That's EXACTLY what Obama the Not So Great has planned for this country. Its called socialism in polite company. I prefer the term COMMUNISM. Maybe you weren't in school the day they taught the difference b/w that & capitalism. No other system acknowledges the reality of life better than capitalism. The fact that some beleive capitalism isn't "fair", means that they are more than likely the same type of crybabies who don't think that LIFE is fair. Guess what? It ain't. The sooner you get over it & stop crying in your beer about it, the more productive & happy you'll be. The Poster Formerly Known As DTFrankel

Questions for Kal, I've not read all the posts, but as far back as your last two, anyway. Did you choose to reaffiliate yourself with the Democrat party, or did you just choose to unaffiliate yourself with the Republicans? If it's the former, then did you choose to leave the Republican party because you thought it was a petty, tit-for-tat party that was more interested in lambasting Democrats than it was in generating progress? If that's the case, please tell me you didn't join the Democrat party looking for something different. Regarding Roush's slamming of Ohiogirl, I cry foul. Just because Democrats called GWB every name in the book (and, Democrats, you DID do that-- you can't deny it), doesn't mean that Republicans should do the same thing to B.O. Republicans must rebuild themselves and their image. Only then can they return to prominence. Staying the partisan politics, "he said, she said" course will do nothing but delay their recreation.
