We are living in a bizarre time, people in the US are decideing that they don't have to live under our elected leaders and are going to punish them for not doing what their opponents want. These actions are those of people who don't believe in Democracy, and are pushing the world into a dark age.
Welcome to Obama's New World. All you need is a consensus driven legal process of jury shopping for 12 angry people and you can crush any dissent, values or political opposition. They did it with Tom DeLay, Scooter Libby and now Cheney and Gonzales. Obama said that the judicial system was radical enough and he will radicalize it. Since one of the new special interest groups taking over Washington D.C. is lawyers, you can expect to see further indictments of those political adversaries on the wrong side the federal political agenda. After that, it will be state and then local and eventually those citizens that speak against. With a media that acts as an Obama guard dog, there will be no dissent, only consensus.
Bad choice of words,rtk51.In a democracy,we citizens do not "live under" anyone. And ,we are just about to leave the "dark ages" of the last 8 years.Porkchop boy, Cheney, and his toady stooge ,Gonzales, have had this coming.Bet they con-vince the judge, not to sign.
Hey RedGreen, its time to return to school for your GED so that you can learn to articulate a logical thought and punctuate correctly.
RedGreen: Then, there is the Law. You think you're above it, below it, inside it, aside it, or over/above it? First examine where your are, then determine where others and other things, material or otherwise are or should be, and on and on... Are you above democracy?
doesnt cheny know obama is the only one above the law?
- when was the last time a pres-elect failed to produce his medicals before General Election? we are still waiting\
- when was the last time we had a president-elect with Court Cases in the Supreme Court demanding he prove he is American and REFUSES to produce his birth certificate?
- when was the last time a sitting Government official went campaigning for a communist(raila odinga of kenya) and didnt get fined with treason?
CHENY? STEP BACK FELLA... OBAMA IS THE ONLY ONE ABOVE THE LAW.
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET EXCEPT IN PRE-PACKAGED STRAWBERRIES.
GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY FOR INDEED THE POLITICIANS HAVE NO CLUE
Its time to move on. In particular, it is time to find 12 people would will finally indict Chris Dodd for his role in The Fannie and Freddie Fiasco.
And don't forget Barney Frank for his role. That will make it a conspiracy so we can pile on that charge too.
And throw in the Countrywide guy who arranged a discounted interest rate for Chris "Discount Loan" Dodd and Kurt "VIP" Conrad.
Then it's on to indict Charlie Rangle
and Al Franken for income tax evasion.
And finally, we can indict none other than Barack Obama for conspiring with Tony Rezko in order to get a $300,000 bribe/discount on the sale price of his home in Chicago. The FBI is already investigating that but I am sure Obama's Justice department will quash that investigation.
Obama can also be indicted for misappropration of funds and possibly even fraud for securing millions of dollars for the hospital his wife worked at in exchange for his wife receiving a huge pay increase that doubled her salary once the grant was secured and the money transferred to the hospital. That quid-pro-quo may be hard to prove in a court of law but until the charges are brought forth we will never know if they will prevail.
This guy, Guerra sounds like a real nut. Obviously using his office for political purposes. I think "rogue" comes to mind. Send in the Texas Rangers.
I have Vanguard investment accounts. Does that mean I'm under indictment, too?
Before my conservative compatriots out there tear me to shreads for what I am about to say, at least do me the honor of hearing me out while you're sharpening your keyboards.
I wish President Bush had chosen a different running mate, and here's why.
If you dig deep enough you'll find Dick Cheney possibly responsible for most of the most damaging accusations against the Bush administration. Everything from incompetence, to oil, to secrecy and corruption appears to be directly attributable to Cheney.
The President deserved better.
Here's some of my reasons:
On May 10, 2001, President Bush appointed Vice President Cheney to head up the White House task force on terrorism. According to former anti-terrorism tsar, Richard Clark, that group never met once before the September 11, attacks. Later, the 9/11 report revealed the top administration official who ignored CIA warnings about terrorist attacks was none other than Dick Cheney.
Then there was the no-bid contracts awarded to Halliburton. Cheney said as V.P. he had no dealings with Halliburton, even though he owned 440,000 shares of Halliburton stock and has since tripled his personal wealth.
There was the first Cheney, Texas, grand jury indictment for secretly doing business with Iran in Dubai as CEO of Halliburton in violation of several federal statutes including the Trading With The Enemy Act of 2004. Not to mention the Cayman mail-drop fraud. In that case the evidence was so compelling, it was referred directly to the D.C. Appeals Court without a lower court hearing. The Justice Department sat on it until a strict party line vote with Cheney at the helm simply changed the law.
Throwing Scooter Libby to the wolves for outing Valerie Plame in retribution for Joe Wilson's "yellow-cake uranium" report is another.
Suppressing evidence in the 9/11 Commission investigation which even insensed Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.) is further evidence of his continued dusruption, which further damaged the President's reputation.
The list goes on.
And now this?
Of course Cheney isn't guilty of assault or torture per se. But with all the doubts his actions cast over a good preisident, he still put himself in position to steer government contracts to a company in which he is invested.
Granted there are more than enough Democrats to go around who deserve the same treatment.
But I just think Bush deserves better.
Let's just put it this way: If Cheney is responsible for even one of the aforementioned, and has been at the bottom of the pile for the causes that in any way damaged the Bush presidency, then I don't wish him well.
