With the Democrats able to stop any drilling for oil in and around America the people will always be dependent on foreign oil. Look at Chavez in venezula who is buying influence across South America and now planning on going nuclear with Russian help. All because we purchase his oil daily.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Democrat government to facilitate any progress on increasing domestic petroleum production. But do remember to properly inflate your automobile's tires, for as Obama proclaimed, we can save more oil that way than we could ever obtain from drilling. {Why does he say these things?} Obama's radical plan is for energy prices to "skyrocket" in order to drive a culture CHANGE to conservation and alternative energy sources. When gasoline was > $4 a gallon, the Toyota Prius hybrid suddenly became the most sought after car around. This, Obama approves. As a beginning.

The REAL thing the Democrats wish to accomplish (in the long run) is to FORCE the "masses", that is, you and me, to take PUBLIC transportation ONLY...of course, the ELITES who "need" personal transportation will be able to have it, and probably government subsidized fuel, that is, at the REAL market price. We, the unwashed, ignorant masses, NEED these wise and glorious Democrat leaders and thinkers to tell us what to do, don't you know? Just remember, SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS, like Streisand, Robbins, and the bulk of the Hollyweird crew or great patriotic Americans like William Ayers or Rev. Wright...yes, CHANGE is coming, but I don't think most people will like it so much, when they see it in ACTION! Oh, yeah, that's right, it's now too late to CHANGE you minds!

This is a decision I certainly didn't expect. The Democrats are painfully aware that 2010 is another election year. With gas prices now low, if they ban off sure drilling and prices go to $5.00 per gallon, something which Pelosi said she agrees with, they know Americans will kick their collective butts back to the sidelines faster than you can say, "fill er up." Because the next election isn't a presidential election, voter turnout will be much lighter. Without their latest savior leading the charge, Democrats have an uncertain future. With the Democrat led Congress approval rating now hovering below Bush at 22%, it is no stretch to say their advantage is tenuous at best.

"I don't think there is any intent at this point in time ... to return to the same position we were in" before the ban was lifted,... I really do NOT see where the author get's his headline. NO is a binary definitive and deterministic statement tied to the ban legislation. Hoyer's statement leaves an infinite space for relativism. There is no committment there, only room for spin and especially cap and trade. They WILL NOT give up that tax, regardless of the energy needs or the national security interests. Where is the media on this? This is a national security issue. If it is not going to be like was before, what is it going to be? Does anyone realize that Russia is the ONLY energy independent economic power in the world?

LET/S CONTINUE TO GIVE OUR MONEY TO CHAVEZ AND THE LIKE.. WE ARE TOO DUMB TO PUT A PLAN TOGETHER. HE WHO CONTROLS THE OIL CONTROLS THE GLOBAL ECONOMY. OIL DERIVATIVES PRODUCE EVERYTHING FROM FLEECE CLOTHING TO COMPUTER/TOASTERS AND THE LIST GOES ON ETC. LETS WAIT FOR THE NEXT CRISIS.

When Obama and the Dems forbid more drilling everyone will know they aren't looking out for our best interests. When the drilling ban is re-instated gas prices will go up, and our weak economy will fall further.

The democrats should say NO to illegal immigration. See current videos taken by hidden cameras showing Illegal Aliens flooding across the border every day and night - in massive numbers. http://www.borderinvasionpics.com

Wow, they're going to allow drilling? Shocking, because the liberal illuminati who now have power said no to drilling in the past. Time will tell.
