Very interesting and informative, Mr. Dezenhall. I may be one of many who though a fan of Reagon and aware of Michael Deaver by name never had a way to see his accomplishments. The 'You are a Rube' defense is, I suspect, used whenever a liberal or other elitest meets anyone who differs with them on anything, even speech patterns, say they drop the 'g' on 'ing' as with Palin.
Since Reagan didn't have the media on his side, the mainstream media could advocate and frame political issues such that Reagan had to address them, which one can assume is the role of the fourth estate. With the media on Obama's side there will be no such visibiliity, as a matter of fact, we will have a difficult time determining what they are masking in seeing to Obama's success.
