It is so nice having a president elect who can speak in full sentences, think fairly, and reflect a level of education and knowledge fitting for a president. Many on this conservative site will probabaly go haywire over this announcement, perhaps due to their own unsure feelings about their sexuality. Keep up the good work Barack!!!!

TyinPS, Your sputtering nonsense is the usual left wing condescension and presumptuousness that many of us are learning to expect from a mindless Obamabot. You bunch and Obama are in for a rude awakening if you think the military will put up with your PC baloney.

TyinPS is so funny, typical radical liberal response. As homosexuality is a learned behavioral addiction which is treatable and reversible, perhaps the military will start to have classes to teach them normal lifestyle behavior. After all the mility has classes and treatment for drug addiction which is also a learned behavior and they have been very effective in the treatment.

Nature always had its quirks. That is what kept the sideshows going so strong for so long. We could chose to pay our money to se it if we wanted to. If not you just kept walking. Don’t ask, don’t tell is ok with me. Some people have sex with animals and I don’t want to see that or have my children exposed to that either. Keep it private and in the closet. Have some respect for the rest of us please.

"Many on this conservative site will probabaly [sic] go haywire over this announcement, perhaps due to their own unsure feelings about their sexuality." I love TyinPS's amateur psychobabble. He appears to be paying attention to the professional psychobabble. He also writes "It is so nice having a president elect who can speak in full sentences, think fairly, and reflect a level of education and knowledge fitting for a president." The question I have is this: How can he adequately judge education and knowledge when he cannot even spell "probably" correctly?

Obama is clueless on just about everything except politics and his image. He'll do nothing without his mysterious consensus since he really is Alice in Wonderland at this point. He'll kick his more controversial social re-engineering past the 2010 elections. His first move will be a dramatic announcement on "fixing" the economy. If he pitches temporary corp tax cuts, deferring capital tax gains increases along with the typical huge increase in deficit spending on his special interests groups expect a huge market rally, cheers all around magnified by the MSM. Then, using this "success" he'll move on the next most essential item to pack the 2010 election cycle with millions of formerly illegals having been granted amnesty. Even if the Republican base is roused in 2010 (which they should be regardless), the addition of the illegals will ensure another election victory. Anything that will disrupt 2010 will be kicked down the road or implemented in multi-year phase-ins to tamp down dissent. After 2010 and the solidifying of his majority, it's mostly a "just don't screw up too badly" and he wins 2012. After 2012 he would have another 2 years for "change" and even if the 2014 cycle is a net loss for him, he can fight delaying actions like Clinton did after the 1998 cycle. Gays, who only seem to want to be considered normal (whatever that is these days) will be, along with other vocal fringe groups, be kicked down the road as well based on his campaign needs. Obama cannot afford to see reductions in the Senate in 2010. His real goal is winning campaigns by any means. It's the only talent he's displayed so far. Everything he takes an active part in will be solely for politial manipulation. Welcome to National Chicago Politics and the building of the Obama Machine.

Another "PRESENT" vote. Just the kind leadership to expect from the Commander in Chief. He could also be waiting for the California Supreme Court decision and banning gay marriage as a political weather vane. Either way, by 2010, he will know if he will be able to internationalize our military and turn the decision over to the ICC.

"Don't ask, don't tell" is the policy also being used concerning the number of illegal aliens pouring across the border unchallenged every day and night. www.borderinvasionpics.com See current videos taken by hidden cameras. Border security is pathetic.

This is change we can believe in?? Lining his cabinet with Clinton cronies?? Don't Ask, Don't Tell and Abortion at any cost to life are the first items on the change agenda, God helps us all and especially Obama and his wife's souls!

The ONLY people that should have a say in whether or not to allow openly gay people to serve in the U.S. Military are the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that will have to tolerate that behavior. Very few of our representatives in Congress have ever served their country and they do not have a clue about how you have to have COMPLETE trust in the person next to you in a fight. Being forced to serve with someone that is openly gay will be a severe detriment to the moral of those serving our country. You can take as many surveys of how "people" feel about gays in the military but unless the surveys are from those that are directly affected, they mean NOTHING.

Just the first of many "Change You Can Believe In" that you actually CANNOT beleive in. More will fall every month. Lies you can't beleive in is more like it.

This guy is everything people who are sane said he was -- a man who shouldn't be president. May all his promises come to naught, and may our military protect us in spite of this bad, bad man.

"No REAL heterosexual male who is healthy with their sexuality would care about equality for gays." No real homosexual who is healthy about their sexuality would feel the need to make others aware of it.

Gays may get what they ask for but may not be happy with what results. Look for Obama to re-instate the draft within 6-12 months of taking office. Because of the demonizing of the military by Obama, Murtha, Kerry, and the Democrat Party in general and Obamas' vow to gut our weapons programs and people like Murtha saying we need to cut the defense budget 25% look for enlistments to drop like a rock. People in the military now will leave in droves. Also Obama wants a "Civilian Defense Force" as large and well funded as the military. Where will the money for that come from other than the military budget putting our troops at greater risk to our enemies of which there are many? When enlistments stop and the draft is back in effect people will no longer be able to dodge the draft by saying they are gay if Obamas supporters get their way. Gays may end up on the front lines dodgeing bullets. Something for them to think about.

People that have no experience in the military; have no idea of the impact of allowing openly gay persons into military service will have. The public sentiment has changed since the early 90's, because the percentage of persons who have served in military has declined. My experience has shown me that, yes there are many positions in the military that would not be effected by allowing openly gay people, example, probably the entire air force would not be effected much. But the Marine Corps would be decimated. How do you implement a policy for specific parts of the military? I read that 'Courage is not the lack of fear, it's the realization that there is something more important', having served in the military during a time of war I can say, those words are completely accurate. Before you go into conflict, you consider that you could be killed, what allows you to go forward, it the realization that this IS something more important than yourself - your country - that is patriotism! I guess it doesn't matter much, patriotism is dead (do you think Obama would die for his counry? How about your liberal friends?), and without patriots, the military is useless. I think we should disband the entire military. As the population moves more and more towards the left, fewer, and fewer people will consider it worth fighting for. While I would have died for my country in the past, I wouldn’t pee on it if it was on fire now!
