CHAVEZ: Welcome to America 11/27/08 Ms. Chavez says in effect that the Hispanic population in the U.S. is going to continue to grow at a tremendous rate, and we should all accept that growth as a fact of life; and the Hispanic population constitutes the swing vote; therefore, the Republican party should focus upon acquiring the Hispanic vote. Well, no, Ms. Chavez. The illegal aliens continue to pour across our border and bankrupt our social-welfare systems without our government lifting a finger to stop them (even though the vast majority of the citizenry demands that they be stopped), for two reasons: the Democrats see the illegal Mexicans as the source of political ascendancy; and the Republicans see them as the lever with which to gut labor rates in the U.S. This is not a situation that the American public should accept. Aside from the crippling financial-burden, there are two great dangers inherent in this policy. First, if we allow our government to flout its own laws and the clearly-expressed will of the people so blatantly, just to satisfy the political desires of one party and a few supercapitalists in the other party, then our government will naturally build upon that deadly precedent, and soon government of the people, by the people, for the people will be only a sad memory. Human nature being what it is, there can be no other outcome. Second, there is a great danger in permitting the Hispanics to arrive here in far greater numbers than can be readily assimilated. As most of us who have lived in the border country and/or spent a lot of time in Mexico would probably agree, by and large the Mexicans as individuals are friendly, warm-hearted, hard-working people. But there is a fatal flaw in their culture, which is reflected in the fact that resource-rich Mexico is still a dirt-poor country. That flaw: the entire society is built upon "la mordida"--"the little bite." In order to get anything done in Mexico, you must bribe just the right assortment of people just the right amount. As an official, you don't do your job because it is your assigned duty; you do it purely for as much personal gain as you can squeeze out of the people who come within reach. That is why Mexico is now run by drug lords with private armies; and symptoms of that disastrous situation are now appearing in our Southwest. The only way we can stop it is by sealing our borders and sending home the illegals now in our country. As for prying loose the Hispanic vote from the Democratic party--FDR converted that party into a welfare program for ethnic minorities. The only way the Republicans could outmaneuver the Democrats at their own game would be to become more socialist than they are. To win, we must construct a platform of strong appeal based upon something other than socialism for ethnic minorities.

Running a GOP candidate who can speak, who is knowledgeable on economics and other national matters, and who is distinguishable from the Democrats would result in a GOP president.
