Chavez uses the same tactics as power hungry socialists everywhere, public spending, government manipulation of producers, patronage, and higher taxes to pay for it all. The vicious cycle is recorded in all history as self-defeating and disasterous wherever used, near and long term. In the US our media lends them a hand by not connecting the dots and ignoring historic comparisons such as Jimmy Carter, LBJ and Clinton, the media soul mates.
Have you ever seen the clips of his televised "cabinet" meetings? This guy is a tyrant, in every sense of the word. (As if his socialist tendencies didn't already indicate this) He openly yells at and ridicules his ministers on national television, and then talks for hours upon hours. Tyrants believe they are smarter, and better able to run your lives than you are. Chavez is such a complete opposite to American values, he causes our gag reflex to trigger just listening to him.
I know that the people of Venezuela can do better. Hispanic people are used to hard work, and earning your way. Chavez has promised a socialist state, and he has ruled accordingly (ruled, not lead).
Venezuela, it's time to make a move towards freedom. Recall this guy, and elect a real government, that is represented by the people. You need shared powers between localities and the national government, and you need a clear separation between branches. If you don't want to hear this guy ramble on for hours at a time, you should be free to tell him to pound sand, and go somewhere else.
