I, for one, have not an iota of sympathy for school boards that have to cut back on their budgets. When I was in fourth grade, the entire school system shut down at the end of February for a lack of funds. We children did not care, and I cannot say there was a single person who was less educated because of it. The teachers just tried to cover the work by the end of the school year, such as it was. It was the teachers I felt sorry for, with no income from March through August. The next year, all of those teachers were back on the job. They survived. We survived. And, believe me, there were no so called frills at school. None.
