Great article. Very personal. The story provided an inside look at the Palin family during what must have been a stressful day. What I took from the article is how we finally have an outside-D.C.-candidate potentially [and hopefully] going to "lead[!]" this county. Truly a refreshing aspect to her campaign.

All the banter from the insiders including the jaded press doesn't matter to me. It's the character on the inside. Palin has it and Biden is as hollow as they come.

There were 2 worlds tonight---Biden spoke facts and details and knowledge. Palin repeated (and repeated) answers she had memorized, regardless of the question. Palin had certain things she wanted to say, or things she could remember, and blurted them out, ignoring the question. Anyone who thinks she won, just because she could sometimes put a sentence together (and sometimes couldn't.....)wasn't listening. That's understandable--it was hard to try to follow her answers sometimes because as in previous appearances, there was some pure gibberish. She's so over her head. She didn't help McCain, but she may have helped Palin.

I listened to the entire debate. Biden used the word "Change" while Palin used the word "Reform". I think there is a big difference between these two words. Reform is about changing the existing system of government to improve on it while "Change" is more fundamental to changing the whole system. I think our founding fathers had great wisdom in forming the American governmental system with "Checks and Balance" that aimed at holding our leaders at every level of government accountable for their actions. One thing Biden said might have missed by a lot of people. He had all along advocating "Change", yet, in his debate tonight he said he has been in Washington DC for 35 years and he had not changed a bit. I wonder how that can work for "Change". Here is a man who had not changed in 35 years in politic and are we going to put him in the White House for "Change"? Also from many other information sources America is the #3 in terms of the amount of our oil resource, NOT 3%. We are already producing oil here in the United States yet Biden said it will take TEN YEARS before we can see a drop of oil. Gov. Palin was the only one who mentioned personal responsibilities for those who are getting these loans knowing full well they could not pay for them. Whereas Mr. Biden thinks that every Americans should own their home whether they can pay for it or not. He is not helping the middle class, he is advocating that the law abiding middle class citizens should pay for these bad loans. He is not a friend of middle class people who work very hard and pay their taxes just find our our government is going to use that money to bail out irresponsible people. I do not want Obama or Biden anywhere near the White House. Besides, it will totally takes away the "Checks and Balance" for leadership accountability. How can we allow the Democratic Party to take the White House, the House, the Senate and the MSM which they already have. Will we be able to hear any truth from our government at all?

Biden did speak a lot of details -- but as the coming days will show, many of them were out and out falsehoods (or "lies" for us common folk). Palin is honest - Biden is a politician. Who do you want leading the nation?

Palin won. Note: I thought Ifill did a good job as moderator. She was professional and fair, no matter what her opinion.

Jim, You're right about Sarah - she actually insulted Joe a few times - but she charmed him right out of noticing it. He was so transparent about that; and it's obvious he likes flattery. 8-) I agree with you -- but may I suggest you don't stoop to MGs tactics by calling him a "friggin idiot". Let the leftys be seen and renown for their rancor an ill-manners - let us stay above that fray. What ya' say? Grace to you all -- even you MG 8-)

MG, Do some fact checking. Just because he says it with confidence doesn't mean that it's true.

MG, you are not worthy of my time. I will only stay on a debate while there is thoughtful discussion. Obviously not finding that with you. Sayonara.

MG, You are wrong on all counts. To start with, I'm a woman. And McCain/Palin is RIGHT for America. Your name calling and idiotic rants don't help your cause.

I agree with the consensus. Palin IS an airhead. Her programmed comments did not answer the questions. Biden's did. I do not want a self-professed hockey mom, who was really clear that she does not support Biden's belief in equality and equal civil rights and benefits for all. That's the kind of stuff, Flaherty, that would have sent your ancester's back to the emerald isle, denied women the right to vote and hold people in slavery.

Lips_are_moving

Palin did what she promised. She did not answer questions. She does not know the Constitution. She thinks that she can expand the VP's powers over Congress. I am also not convinced about her alleged integrity. It is hard to imagine why she felt the need to lie repeatedly about the Bridge to Nowhere. Her role in Troopergate makes her seem petty and vindictive. She did not even seem particularly sympathetic to Biden's story about his life's tragedy, so eager was she to get back in pit bull mode. I think she is a regular pol and a good governor of Alaska, and should stay there until she is ready for prime time.

Sarah Palin won the debate by holding her own with poise and confidence. The strength and quiet joy she showed tonight are remarkable in light of the attacks she has endured. As governor of Alaska, she has demonstrated her ability to bring about change. Obama and Biden talk about change, but Palin has actually accomplished it. Her performance tonight should silence those who believe she is not up to the task of being Vice President of the United States.
