If this ‘bailout’ is an emergency, please explain to the American taxpayers why this legislation has ‘earmarks’, one going to NASCAR. Please understand that I am a big fan of NASCAR. Bruton Smith, owner of many NASCAR race tracks and a number of automobile dealerships, and NASCAR does not need a ‘bailout’ and US Congress should not force the taxpayers to fund NASCAR. The taxpayers should not be responsible for funding one of the most expensive sports who are financially sound. Vote no until all ‘earmarks’ are removed from this legislation. This legislation approved for a ‘bailout’ is for a proposed emergency. Why should any legislator require the taxpayers to fund NASCAR or any other ‘earmark’? Legislators on Capitol Hill know better. Will they answer the call?

I wonder if Pelosi will come out with another of her episides of Turrette Syndrome today, just as everyone is getting ready to vote. And maybe everyone will understand that it's just Pelosi being Pelosi, trying to get everyone to forget that 9-11 ever happened, etc., and bitter that her 8-year crusade to impeach George Bush has ended in failure, just like everything else she has done. She is getting harder and harder to stomach. And how about that earmark for wooden toy arrows? I agree---'no'---until ALL EARMARKS ARE REMOVED.

Now we see how "patriotic" our senators are: "The economy is melting! People on Main Street are losing their savings, their homes, their jobs! Vote to save them NOW!" "Oh, sure. As soon as you fund my pet arrow project, my racecar track, and my booze." Every senator who proposed an earmark (or an earmark-like pork expense) should be impeached and drummed out of the Senate in disgrace. If my congressman votes for this again, I will vote "NO" for him for the first time in 26 years.

The sad part of this entire rescue plan is that it is a rescue plan brought about by the the poor leadership in Washington encouraging the financial institutions to loan money. Began with Greenspan!!!!!!!! No oversight and now politicians trying to cover their rear ends. Talk about Golden Parachutes..who has it better? Right Barney Franks? Perform or screw up you still have a job!!!

I could be mistaken, but I believe all the earmarks had been removed after the 200 R's and D's voted no. I think that was one of their sticking points...is their anyway to find the new bill or do we have to wait until after the vote?
