Here in Arizona, we are seeing more and more situations where the Mexican and Cental American organized criminal gangs are "enforcing" for the Mexican Drug Cartels.
For example, in Phoenix, Arizona, we see a great deal of kidnapping, human trafficking, vehicle thefts (later used to run drugs from Mexico), drug running and American Citizen Identity Theft Forgeries carried out by the "professional" gang members. Murders of one gang by another are common here, as well, with "non-combatants" wounded/killed in the crossfire.
The latest statistics show over 10,000 illegal aliens PER WEEK are entering Arizona. "They" say we are not being invaded.....

FACT: In the last 22 years, over 26 million illegals, have been apprehended, crossing our Southwest Border.
FACT: Less than 1, out of 4, were estimated to have been apprehended.
Mind boggling, isn't it.
According to the U.S. Immigration Service six million illegals in this country are visa overstays. That is, they got a visa legally in their home country, they came here to visit and then they never left.
BUILD THE FENCE!!!

Illegal aliens make up just 5% of the population and account for 30% of prisoners in federal prisons.
It would be much easier to end all three wars and guard our boarders while stopping the gangs by stopping what binds these gangs together; after many decades of fighting this same war on illegal drugs; it would be safer, faster and much cheaper to end this war by legalizing the drugs. The worst resistance would come from the drug cartels world-wide and the terrorist networks in the Middle-East. Without the illegal drug industry funding the terrorists, this global war on terror could end much sooner. At the same time for just a few more years (not decades) the United States will still have to continue clearing up the mess by the once illegal drugs; the same way as usual, with tax-payer funded drug rehabs, including heroine or methadone babies and their lifetime medical costs etc… Our society needs to get more faith in itself because in the Middle-East where it is much easier to get heroin than it is to get clean drinking water; they are not a society of drug addicts.
This would also cut off the funded government corruption in the Middle East, Mexico, and the United States. In time this will also solve many other problems in our economy especially the cost, and availability of health care. The repercussions this would help to create for a few years (not decades) is one of the best examples of why our forefathers emphasized so strongly on the necessity of separation between the church and state. We should take one-third of the drug rehabs in the U.S. and turn them into hospice units for the “drug challenged”.
Afghanistan has doubled its opium production over the past two years and now accounts for 93 percent of the world's output, according to the annual UNODC survey. The southern province of Helmand alone has become the world's biggest source of illicit drugs. The amount of Afghan land used for opium has surpassed the total used for coca cultivation in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia combined. Afghan poppies, which start as flowers in farmers' fields and often wind up as heroin on U.S. streets, fuel a $3 billion a year industry in Afghanistan. The industry is filling the coffers of the Taliban, the group who gave safe haven to al Qaeda before and after 9/11, and it is destabilizing the Afghan government. (CNN) This investigative report was done using the figures from 2005, since then the figures from 2006 have been released and are much higher. We could stop three wars or kill three birds with one stone. We have to stop letting history repeat itself times three.
The US government has absolutely failed miserably in protecting the citizens of this country. Why are we worrying about Islamofascists when this government allows Latin American gangs to roam at will in this country. A government that refuses to protect it's citizens is government that needs to be replaced.
proudinfidel: I agree with you, that our US Government has failed to protect We The People. One of the most basic responsibilities of the federal government is border protection and the Executive Branch fails in this basic task and it is done on purpose.
President Bush is in love with the Mexicans and prefers their ability to cross the border at will, over the safety of American Citizens. The President even makes excuses for the Mexican Military, when they are in the USA, while protecting drug shipments for the Mexican Cartels.
A few years ago, WHILE V.Fox was speaking in Phoenix about relations between USA and Mexico, a running gun battle was taking place on I-10 (about 20 miles from where he was speaking in Phoenix) between rival human trafficking gangs. These gangsters were shooting vehicle-to-vehicle in an effort to force one van over in order to steal the human cargo for ransom. Other legal car traffic on the freeway was crashing all around this gun battle.
In Arizona, the citizens had best be armed all the time because you just never know what may happen. The criminals are all armed and dangerous.
I can hardly wait for a President Palin, a true conservative.

The border issues and immigration issues together will prove to be the grimmest domestic aspect of the Bush Presidency. America has been, and will be, changed (for the worse) in ways we have not even imagined yet.
Immigrants (both legal and illegal) have been forming and recruiting members for criminal gangs since the 1800's. This is nothing new. You can build as many fences and station as many patrols along the border as you want, the gangs will still exist and the problems their members create will still remain.
This is a social problem (meaning that it exists in all societies) and not an immigration problem. Enforce the immigration laws, by all legal means available, but don't expect that to stop criminal gangs. Being legal citizens hasn't prevented our own youths from forming gangs and recruiting new members, correct?
The first thing that must be done in order to stop this problem is to secure our borders to prevent these people from returning once deported, and to prevent new gang members from coming across our border. Let the military start having their excercises near the border. The engineers can work on physical security measures such as fences, berms, observation posts, and other obstructions, and send infantry, armor, and MP units tdy on 30 day rotations to patrol the border. These people coming across our borders are foreign enemies, nothing less. They bring violence, illegal arms, and drugs into our country negatively impacting the culture, economy, and security of our nation. How can we possibly stop these gangs otherwise? They have a constant new supply of fresh personnel, weapons, and money coming in daily. This is more than a local crime problem. This is a matter of national security. We are being invaded by foreign criminals. The only difference between them and an insurgent groups is the lack of action taken against them on a national level.
