I do not believe that Tina Fay or the Saturday Night Live T.V. show is hurting McCain’s chances at winning the presidency, it is just a harmless comedic series that is poking fun at the most popular event of today, which seems to be on everyone’s mind. Political satire has not changed, it is always the same kind of jokes that make you laugh at the expense of the person being exploited, the main point that I’m trying to make is that shows like SNL, The Daily show, and The Colbert Report tease everyone. They have made fun of George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and even Hillary Clinton for years and it has really never had a major impact on the way people view them because everybody knows that it is ultimately just a joke. Of course the shows are going to use true life material for there spoofs, if they didn’t they would have nothing to go on which makes for a very lame show. What makes something funny is the fact that it is true when you look back at it. It's apparent that Mrs. Palin can take a joke and laugh at herself which I believe is a very redeeming quality, I mean the woman is under the microscope 24/7, is under constant pressure, and still can have fun and laugh without taking it too personally. I think if anyone was to be angry about this whole thing it would be her, but since it clearly does not bother her in the least, what is everybody else’s problem? I believe that everyone needs to take a deep breath and just let it go; it is nothing but a bunch of facetious remarks that are only meant to get a laugh. Take a joke! Also, yes the polls have altered a bit but that is only because the people who changed there minds about voting for McCain/Palin really didn’t know in which direction to go anyway, they were undecided. They were looking for any reason they could in order to make up their minds on who to vote for so they turned to a satirical T.V. skit. If anything I think this will help Palin in the long run because it is publicity, it’s getting her name out there and shows her personality.

McCain should dump Palin and choose Tina Fey for VP. He would not only get someone with brains, but if she kept the glasses the dumb voters would never notice.

The reason it's a hit is simple. Simple minded liberals are hysterical about tables being turned. Never imagined the republican party had such wit that bears down on issues in the same manner of a democrat leader. Theater is able to capitalize on that shock by facilitating the stage, the catharsis, if you you will. Simple minded people as are liberals seem to not be capable of examining their surrounding in debth. Ultimately, in my humble opinion, there is a deep set envy for Sara Palin because, like the professional entertainer that mocks here, she has talent that goes to the very core of our engineered modern social value; to wit - successfull female. Just think about it. Mssss Palin elected Mayor, then elected Governor of a significant and one of our most beautiful States Alaska, and now at the door step of the Executive Branch of our government. Brains you ask? Her brains are as good as any president that has been in the White House. Remember, even Jimmy Carter was a president! Then there is the brain of J. Biden, just about the same age as McCain, eh? Wo! Wait just a minute. Am I being discriminatory by bringing up age? I shuold be careful because age discrimination is written in the law. I'd better watch my Political Correctness lest I be tarred and feathered by social criticism. Anyway, Sara Palin has come onto the national stage. She is entitled to by law and by our conventions. She is there for us. You make the choice, but you don't have to unduly cut her down. Civilty is our standard. Don't agree with her or her being a public servant, then just say it that way. Leave the mockery and personal vindictives to theater. Pros are paid to do that so we can remain civil. That goes for the Stranger to American mainstream Barrack Hussein Obama as well. We don't need to be vindictive with him too!

If it weren't for Palin McCain would be poling in single digits especially after the last debate and that isn't saying much. McCain is a political dud. He doesn't know what to do now that he has to kick sand in his own eye to be a maverick. This is absolutely the worst run campaign in history. In a country of 300 million people this is the best that either party could come up with? What a joke this whole election has become. As for Tina Fey she is like every other entertainer in America. She and they have the societal value of a Nintendo game and nothing more. It would be wonderful if we could get back to the era when entertainers worked for the money and food tossed on stage. Society had it right back then.

I agree with you bunfight, but confess that reading it hurts me. It would not be that bad for me if I did not believe in my hart that America as in times past, if not more so today, is in serious danger threatened both from within and abroad. I don't have any answers.

The drift to Obama confirms my growing conviction that the American people deserve nothing better than the loud-mouth know-it-all with no accomplishments except to further his own career. Is it the public schools? The movies? The TV? Yes, yes, yes. All the above.

<<<As Palin's star dims, Fey turns superstar Popular spoofs harming ticket>>> That was the whole purpose of these skits, to destroy the integrity of Mrs Palin since there are no legitimate ways to attack her.

indiefan

Daddy, are you kidding? No legitimate ways to attack Sarah Palin? Read the article -- the skits "have quoted the Alaska governor verbatim to comedic effect." PALIN IS THE JOKE!

MG is delusional. He is the one spewing hatred and invective. Does he even have a job? That must be it: He has no job, and wants the government to give him a handout. But mean conservatives don't give handouts to deadbeats; so, that must be why he hates Mrs. Palin so much. If the charges Mrs. Palin are levelling at the Communist Organizer were untrue, you can bet your bottom dollar (if you have one left after he and his comrades gutted Fannie and Freddie) that there would already be lawsuits flying. Why don't you, MG, bring slander charges against Mrs. Palin. Then we could subpoena the records and documents that would put The Communist Organizer in jail with his buddy Rezko.

Indiefan: Where is the SNL skit mocking the much more amusing and abundant gaffs of "Say it ain't so" Joe "Plagiarist" Biden? Most speakers make errors and get their words twisted at times, especially in hostile interviews with questions designed to that purpose. I haven't watched SNL since the Seventies (when it was funny), but I can guess that the liberals are lampooned in a light-hearted way while conservatives are skewered with mean-spirited intent. That's the nature of the socialist media.

hagelganz

ScottVA: Ah, yes, the socialist media. Like this website, Fox News and the National Review? All of which are so even-handed with Obama and the Dems that it makes me want to stand and give the Pledge of Allegiance. Criticize only media you watch or read, please.

MG-couldn't have said it better! The problem is, the folks who agree with this hate-mongering and blatant falsification of Obama's associations clearly, like the Hannitys and Hasselbecks of the world, clearly could care less about facts, as long as their candidate wins!

Q: Why should Democrats be buried 100 feet deep? A: Because deep down, they're really good people. Q: What's the difference between a Democrat and a catfish? A: One is an ugly, scum sucking bottom-feeder and the other is a fish. Q: How many Democrats does it take to change a light bulb? A: It's irrelevant; they still don't know they're in the dark!
