If the blood thing is true, that is just really foul. That isn't terrorism unless they painted people with it. Painting on objects is just criminal mischief and that isn't exactly terrorism. Th right wing has gone way overboard in suppressing the civil rights of anyone who disagrees. Concentrate on the real terrorists! We are quickly resembling the U.S.S.R. and the KGB. Got to love you Libertarians on this one.

Nice leg work, Tom, but you have no basis to support your statement that Baltimore police were spying on Quakers. "Spying" is by definition a covert or hidden activity. The evidence doesn't indicate anything about covert or hidden activity. For all we know, a uniformed officer was hanging out in the parking lot of the peace activists' York Road headquarters, chatting up the familiar protestors, Blackberry in hand, as she texted dispatches to NSA gate security. A station car with two officers could have been parked across the street taking notes. There is no idication that Baltimore police were monitoring the protestors from a concealed position, disguised as Lucy Shoup, or otherwise hiding. Therefore, you have basis to claim they were spying. Here is the email on which your statement is based: http://www.aclu-md.org/aPress/Attachments/Log_BERN.pdf Has anyone affirmed that the "Baltimore intel unit (BIU)" referenced in the email was part of the Baltimore Police Department in the first place? The terrorist won! Cant you all see it? We are now accusing our own faith community of terrorism. the country is more divided today than ever before. Bin Laden is sitting in his cave laughing at our failing economy and our police state thinking what he did worked and it has. We better wake up and come together because democracy is on the verge of collapsing in america.

Read more closely: "The state police have offered to let the activist see the files and have them purged but have denied them and their attorneys access to the hard copies." "Sisters Ardeth and Carol, a nun for 43 years, said they won't review their records or have them purged until they are given hard copies and allowed to bring attorneys with them to the state police headquarters." The issue here is not civil rights. It's "hard copies." These "non-violent" and "faith-based" ex-burglars are scrapping over pieces of paper. What's that expression --- cutting off your nose to spite your face ... ?

Here we go with the struggle between obeying one's authorities and obeying God. My question to the nuns...in all truth did God tell you to go and paint bloody crosses on the missiles or was it your own conviction? Whenever you cross the line be sure it was God confirming civil disobedience. Why? Because He may have a better plan involving your personal growth and saving the planet from war mongers. So this brings up the issue of hearing from God. For those who have no belief in the supernatural...yes it is possible! It happened in the Bible, it still happens today. There is no conclusive scripture that tells us supernatural action by God doesn't happen today. In fact there are many instances of it happening today and it will increase. You don't see much of it in the news because people don't know what to do with it. As in Ecclesiastes, the song by the Byrds...to everything there is a season...which includes war and peace. Unfortunately, peace will not come until Jesus returns and we are on the verge of WWIII within 10 years,me thinks. That doesn't mean we should not be people of peace..to the contrary, we ourselves should act as Jesus would have and be peacemakers when at all possible. But there is a place for protecting the vulnerable in our community from those who would ravage them. This sometimes requires violent action to protect. I'm not saying I have all the answers, but some truth from the Bible that I suggest you balance your actions with.

You just know Bin Laden is laughing his head off! Nuns as terrorists? Well, if they wear the old-style habits, then I guess they are kinda like Burkahs.

They are terrorists - there is a difference between free speech and act of terror and some believe they crossed that line.

this is obviously a case of the MSP not knowing what the hell they are doing and the gov't severely stomping on the constitution. though the nuns aren't happy about being in prison, they will certainly take the stand for democracy, peace, and freedom. THANK YOU!!! the MSP can earn our tax dollars by fighting real crime; drug dealing and violence in this state and especially in balt city. why can't those hours be spent on the real terrorism effecting our nation? b/c w. bush and his supporters want us to conform to his wishes; sequester our free speech and be afraid to exercise our american principles. the 53 americans are not terrorists PERIOD. MSP will have to pay up and change their tactics so that they can be an asset to our state and uphold our principles. old w. bush will be looking at war crimes charges. just wait, all of you fascist supporters will see.....

The Sisters are easily manipulated by real terrorists seeking naive do-gooders for help in actual violence against America and American citizens. Good intentions, however motivated by faith and high ideals, can be unlawful conspiracy when so minipulated. The good Sisters should have learned their lessons by the federal imprisonment. Perhaps their bishop should explain that the rules of democracy don't include treason in pursuit of some nebulous notion of 'peace'.
