Another republican nailed. Why stop there? It is time to wipe out the Congress and the Senate. Let's put new people in there and start all over, like wiping a hard drive clean of data. Whether republican or democrat new people with clean records need to fix our federal government. The new people coming to office at the outset of their terms need to start at half the salary paid to the unindicted criminals now seated in the Capital Building. In just a few short years there can be a complete turn over there.

Clarence, Yes lets nail Duncan Hunter - right after they nail Reid, Pelosi, Sanchez, Frank, Dodd, Clinton, Waxman, Rangle and OBAMA for doing 100 times worse than this. Don't hold your breath. NOTE: Southern California has a lot of defense contractors and they contribute to both sides of the aisle... The only way to avoid this appearance is to forbid businesses from donating...which is a violation of freedom of speech.

I totally agree with you smrs! I don't have the answers to lobbying and sorts, but one thing is certain, the democrat occupants of the capital building are culpable in crimes of corruption. The thing is only repubicans are called out and they all nearly immediately resign or are drumed out of office in some way. Now democrats in no way are treated the same way nor do they resign. Look at the arch crook Jackson from Louisiana that used military during Katrina and had what, $90k in graft monies. No shame at all. Barney Frank, C. Dodd, and the ilk, still on our payroll after driving us to what we are in finance. It is hard to imagine what is in their minds day after day. The have zero sense of pride in what they do, still their supporters elect them year after year. Like former empires, and the Byzantine Empire in particular, it was the buearacracy teaming with homosexualtiy and corruption that contributed foremost to its downfall.

This isn't news outside of Southern California, most people are aware of the Hunter's involvement with Defense Contractors. The lobby/earmark/pork problem is a Washington problem, some are worse than others. Get rid of the Fed and the income tax and these problems go away quickly. However, there is a 3rd choice in San Diego, the Libertarian Micahel Benoit. I received a Million Dollar Bill from him, his marketing tool, and went to his website. In my opinion we need more Mike Benoit's in Congress and we need to get rid of the politicans that represent the duopoly inside the beltway.

GOP Patriotism is so expensive - you can't work with Hunter Sr. unless you pay off Hunter Jr.

Just like lap dancing, giving money to a politician's campaign has nothing to do with "freedom of speech".Hanging a sign to express one's support for a candidate would equate to freedom of speech. I am picturing Barney Frank and Larry Craig playing footsy under the bathroom stalls as being the straw that broke the camels back and sent the American empire crashing to it's knees as Clarence suggests.

Poor Hunter Jr. - corrupted by his very own father!

I believe Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and other democrats who hold the senate and house seats should also be called on the carpet and some form of justice should be done for this financial catastrophe they have put our country in. Who is responsible for holding these legislators accountable for their abhorrent behavior. Let's talk about mishandling of finances!!

By: RR I believe Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and other democrats who hold the senate and house seats should also be called on the carpet and some form of justice should be done for this financial catastrophe they have put our country in. Who is responsible for holding these legislators accountable for their abhorrent behavior. Let's talk about mishandling of finances!! ----------- Alan Greenspan The New York Times took a hard look at former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's legacy in Thursday's paper, leading with this statement of Greenspan's from 2004: "Not only have individual financial institutions become less vulnerable to shocks from underlying risk factors, but also the financial system as a whole has become more resilient." Stronger regulation of derivatives would have done much to stem the current financial crisis, but Greenspan argued against such measures: "What we have found over the years in the marketplace is that derivatives have been an extraordinarily useful vehicle to transfer risk from those who shouldn't be taking it to those who are willing to and are capable of doing so," Mr. Greenspan told the Senate Banking Committee in 2003. "We think it would be a mistake" to more deeply regulate the contracts, he added. Phil Gram Gramm, McCain's chief economic adviser, helped craft the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act, "a bank deregulation bill that swept away a Depression-era law known as Glass-Steagall" as the Times writes. The Times also notes of Gramm: For more than two decades in Congress he argued that the forces of the market had to be freed from government interference. Just a year after the passage of Gramm- Leach-Bliley, he was largely responsible for another bill -- the Commodity Futures Modernization Act -- that clearly did contribute to the current crisis. That law unleashed the derivatives market and paved the way for banks to become more aggressive about investing in mortgages. As recently as this summer, he was still saying that the biggest problem facing the American economy was excessive regulation.

Earmarks for kick backs to campaign coffers is all part of the status quo in Congress on BOTH sides of the isle. The only reason more Republicans are caught lately is because they were the party in power for so long. Now the Dems have access to the cookie jar and it won't be long. Congress needs 10 year term limits. It's the people's house and these earmarks are OUR money that they should be careful and frugal with. The fact they give it out in no-bid buddy contracts and get campaign kickbacks is just one more symptom of the disease we call our government. We need to kick them ALL out - including the one's set to inherit corruption - and TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!
