"Curiously, Mr. Obama has, to date, failed to provide an authentic birth certificate which could clear up the matter" I find this slightly more than curious! I think this will cause a Constitutional crisis if not resolved before the election. Every American citizen needs to call on Mr. Obama to prove his Constitutional qualifications. So far Mr. Obama has refused to produce the documents and is trying to fight the court order to produce the documents. Any American should be able to prove citizenship in less than a day. Why can’t Mr. Obama? Here is a link to the actual court documents - http://news.justia.com/cases/featured/Pennsylvania/paedce/2:2008cv04083/281573/ Below is a petition someone started to get Congress to settle the Berg lawsuit by having Senator Obama present the records requested. Here is the link to the petition; http://www.rallycongress.com/constitutional-qualification/1244/stop-obama-constitutional-crisis Please Sign the Petition : 6,800 Letters and Emails Sent So Far

It defies credulity that he's fighting the lawsuit and refusing just to provide the birth certificate.

There should not be an election held if this is not resolved before the date thereof. The U.S. Constitution should be upheld and the documents surrendered. If these documents and allocations of Obama's personal past life are not allowed to be investigated and brought out to the public - then the election should not be allowed to continue with his bid for the Presidency. This country will be in a state of vulnerability and possible war within itself.

This is mendacious. McCain and many in the Republican party have worked and supported ACORN. One of the problems with ACORN is that that it uses young volunteers. They often make mistakes -- which in the total picture are small. Obama is extremely cautious and he would not employ anyone that is controversial (This is a criticism not a compliment). My experience is that the Republicans make less mistakes because they pay registrars who are often professional registrars. They often do it through faith based organizations making it easier to conceal mistakes. There is also the factor that Democrats are reluctant to criticize religious organizations. Lastly, ACORN is vulnerable to attacks because the Democratic party washes its hands and won't defend any organization that is not under its control. Moreover, many of its elected officials don't like ACORN because it has criticized them.

"Then there is the Democratic candidate's get-out-the-vote effort ... the Obama campaign is trolling for voters in problematic places. Some are felons in prison systems ... Some ... are homeless. Their attitude toward the Islamist agenda, or for that matter any other aspect of national policy, can only be surmised." -- I seem to have slept through the lecture where it was demonstrated that persons with unsurmisable attitudes are not -- must not be? -- permitted to vote. Could neocomrade Rear-Colonel F. Gaffney conceivably be spoofin’? Havin’ us on just for fun, in hope that we will not remember that voting qualifications are a matter of statute law, even Fedguv Constitutional law?

Go ahead, elect Obama as President. I want to see what happens. I hope he proves his citizenship and has a fantastic four years in office. He might even get reelected in 2012! If, on the other hand, he screws us over; if he leads a radical Islamist revolt against all that we hold dear and true, I am prepared to respond appropriately.

Good ol' Gaff! However, Gaff forgot to reveal that Obama, as well as being a closet member of the Taliban, is also (as I am reliably informed) a lesbian Martian who was sent to Earth in a rocket fuelled with di-lithium crystals supplied by the Iranians. Keep it up Gaff. With your help McCain can't lose.

Great reporting! Also great comments about Obama's birth certificate, we really need to get the word out about this. I can't believe that the appropriate people haven't been notified about this. He could accidentally be allowed to be president against the constitution! Now the Obama campaign has tried to pull one over on all of us by releasing his birth certificate. It proves what we have been saying though. He was born in Hawaii which isnt even part of the United States! Did you know that? Hawaii is actually part of the Muslim world and has been pretending to be a part of the US for years now. I can't believe we haven't done anything about it! Someone get a petition going, we have to protect our country! These Hawaiian Jihadist Muslim Fascist Hula Dancing Terrorists are ploting to take over. Just look at this link to the photos of his birth certificate at Fact Check. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

I must confess that even by the lowly standard of the Washington Times this "article" is extraordinary. Mr. Gaffney manages to make a number of disturbing allegations about a Presidential nominee without presenting a single fact or citation to support his "story". This is an attempt at the vilest of smears operating under the, unfortunatly valid, assumption that if one slings enough faeces about some of it will stick. It is an honour to be living in exile!

It this a new low in election coverage? The central issue here is not Gaffney's lies and factual distortions. We would expect nothing less from him. He is not seen by most Americans as a serious commentator. However, the Washington Post claims to be a serious newspaper, and while it has every right to be resolutely partisan in its editorial(which it is), it should ensure that the commentators to whom it provides a platform are not allowed abuse the priviledge to lie on factual matters. It is not enough for the editor to wash his hands and reject personal responsibility for this column. The Washington Post editors well know that each and every one of Gaffney's allegations are lies insofar as they claim to be factual. Shame on you. Mr. Editor. Your readers deserve an apology.

To petemurray, it seems that moveon.org forgot to tell which paper you were supposed whine to today. Just to set the record straight, it's the Washington times today.

Did no one here pass a High School Civics class? I have to assume not by Mr Gaffney's article and the posts listed here. Here is the Wikipedia of the US Constitution. In it you will see that a person is an automatic citizen if they were born here in the United States or if one of their parents is a US citizen. Are any of you Rhodes Scholars questioning that Barack Obama's mother is a US citizen?

Itis not just Mouha Husaini. It's Ayres, Wright, ACORN, Rezko, etc. It goes to character and judgment. How many of these associations does it take to wake Americans up to just what a clear and present danger Obama is to this country?
Mark as offensive

petemurray

Dear Kindness, The President must be both a citizen and born in the territory of the USA. It's in the Constitution. Obama and McCain were both born in the USA, and both have filed their birth certificates with their nomination papers. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Gaffney comes from another planet entirely.

Reading throught the comments, I noticed that each comment has a link called "Mark as Offensive." If only such a link existed for the entire article. Mr Gaffney, how dumb do you think your readers are?
