This is the most frightening part of and Obama presidency. We would be rid of Obama in, at most, eight years. His appointed judges would be out there voiding the constitution for generations, validating and expanding Obama's socialism.

Let's not forget that the mainstream media have dropped their role as a First Amendment Watch Dog and assumed the role of Obama Guard Dog. If they continue as the Obama propaganda tool, repealing the 22nd Amendment is not that unrealistic, especially if he is handed a supermajority in the Congress.

Good to see Sowell has a head-start on Halloween - Boo! Scary justices! Hey, Tommy - the 2005 Kelo case you specifically cited was brought before a predominantly conservative court. If you want to make a point about liberal judges, you may want to cite cases in which a liberal SCOTUS made the ruling. Tommy Sowell is a doddering fool, and frankly I'm disappointed that he still has a national audience. Retire with some dignity intact, Tom.

hear, hear! Get a firm grasp - dictatorship by the minority. That's real democracy.

As usual, Mr Sowell makes his case. I fear that the only way to undo the damage to come from an Obama presidency would be via constitutional amendments because of the judicial radicals he'll be appointing (with the advice and consent of the likes of Harry Reid). Only amendments to our constitution can trump the disasters a radical SCOTUS will cause. But amendments are extremely difficult to bring about, especially if many states are still in the hands of the Dems.

Hey Clarence and Jimbag, get a clue! You two are a great example of ignorant flaming liberals that think socialism is good for the country. Our country was founded on conservative principles, Christian principles, and the farther we move away from them the farther down the path to socialism we move. Don't you types ever get it by looking around the world? Socialism doesn't work!!! And you scoff at the concern over the types of judges the Big O will put in place, but these are just the kind we don't need. We need judges that will interpret the constitution using all available resources that the founders left us, NOT decide on their own that they don't like part of it so will ignore it like they have been! GET A CLUE!

If Senator Obama wins the election, his first opportunity down the road when and if there is an opening on the Supreme Court (and let's face it, there will be an opening within the next four years) I don't doubt that his first choice will be Rashid Khalidi. Doesn't that make you feel warm and cozy?

Norm: Hi Norm. Thanks for your deep thoughts and humanist consideration. While the country was founded on fine values stemming from religious convictions, America has moved far, far away from them. I'm trying to get a clue. Everywhere I look I see degeneration. The fashions of today, for example. It's cool to dress down. By dressing down people feel comfortable. Along with that comes less respect for others, you know, the way we talk with each other. Example: everybody is a guy, right? Hey guys! Regardsless if females (gals) are in the group. Why? A guy is a fellow human, neither male or female, black or white, superior or inferior, etc. It is likened to comrad in last century's Soviet Russia. Last century the word gal was equivalant for guy, you femal and male, not so today. Why? This is America today, don't you know? I'm still trying to get my clue. If one is a doctor, not to worry, still a guy. Bye the way, just do a google on any illness and you can "challenge" the doctor's diagnosis so the doctor's station is society is lowered. A doctor's no better than a begger on the street - all equal in our American society. Why? It's the result of social engineering, not equality before the law, but equality among us all. Fetus murder is protected by law, not so? Why? The court says so, that's why. The court is a minority, what X number of judges? The court, a minority, legislates and we obey. That's what I mean by dictatorship of the minortiy. If the president wants judges that legislate from the bench, he'll appoint such judges and the result is they dictate our country's values. The education system follows suite. It's all a fine package, especially when the overwhelming portion of society hasn't a clue, which I'm still trying to "get." Anyway, thank you for motivating me to get that clue and your fine and helpful hints.

What vague, accusatory garbage this "article" is. Any journalism teacher would rip it apart in seconds based on the total lack of any supporting evidence that the court cases presented are anything like what Obama, or any human rights advocate, would favor. Pathetic scare tactics. You actually get people to PAY you for this empty bluster? Let's look at some real things, things that people like you don't mention--Numbers don't lie: 1) Bush increased the Federal deficit from about 5 trillion to about 9 trillion. Your kids will pay for that. The IRS is going to make sure of it. 2) Over 4000 Americans dead in his stupid war. And you're worried about a harassment lawsuit in a local library; as if Obama, or most progressives, favor harassment. This writer is an idiot.

even a left-wing cesspool like Harvard should be ashamed to have produced Obama. How did he ever get in there, and who paid his tuition?

fearOfABlackPlanet: Thank you so much for honoring us with your presence and special comments. You apparently understand the content of the article better than any of us. You seem to analyze the writer too. Good for you. You must be an avante gaurd journalist, perhaps even a professor of journalism. Please, do say more.

Why has the Republican Party become the party of bed-wetting fear mongers? Obama's going to win and cut your taxes and correct the many wrongs of the past eight years. Just deal with it. It really won't be that bad. I promise.

RobertSeattle: Thanks for the pep talk, but I believe you as much as I believe Obama. He's not getting my vote, and I in no way feel guilty about not voting for him. I see nothing wrong with America. Obama does. He's simply a moocher, like most attorneys. Unlike most attorneys he has the audacity to mooch on a much larger scale, even take our money and toss it around, like throwing peanuts at animals in a zoo, while he is applauded by bystanders. Nah, he's not getting my vote not just because he is not up to the job but because he just doesn't deserve my vote. That's all. It's my vote and I'll do what I want with it. Yes sir ree Bob.

In his own words, Obama himself said, " He believes in the liberal philosophy of judging, that judges need to look primarily at the social impact of their rulings, rather than the law as written". Another grave concern:) The Second Bill of Rights may be here sooner than you think. Democrat U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur excited a crowd of Obama's supporters before Obama took the stage telling them that, " America needed a Second Bill of Rights guaranteeing all Americans a job, health care, homes, an education, and a fair playing field for business and farmers". Communism creeping in right under our nose !! If Obama is elected....God help us ! .
