Ministers rally voters to oppose slots referendum

Facts you should know before saying yes to slots... 1. Slots gambling employs LESS people than the businesses that are closed because of slots. 2. It takes a $1 million increase in a gambling venue revenue to get ONE more person employed there. That is a huge loss to gain very little. 3. Slots kill the home-building industry, hairdressers, newsagents, shoe shops, boutique clothing, live music....to name just a few! You will lose other better-earned taxes if slots come to Maryland. 4. Between 60 and 90% of slots gamblers at any time in a venue will have problems with gambling 'over-spending'. THIS group will all cost your tax-payers more than slots wil earn... in supporting them and their neglected children. It is wrong that only 2% of people will have gambling problems. 5. We in Australia are now trying to BAN slots because we were misled....and conned effectively. If slots had helped our economy...WHY would we be trying to BAN them? Say NO to slots...and preserve your communities!
