Someone may want to inform this idiot that the Cenus Bureau figure includes an estimated 12 million illegal aliens; hence, there are not 45 million Americans without health insurance!
Is health care insurance the issue or health care the issue? If health care is the issue, are there people suffering or dying because of it and how many? What are the demographics? Is it a rural issue like the author seems to indicate? If so, what the incentives to solve it in rural areas? Hopefully it isn't the government, they don't solve any issues, the just triple the price and reduce the effectiveness through bureaucratic and administrative program diffusion. Eventually a dependency entropy takes over and turns the whole thing into a welfare state.
I think you are wrong. I do not think there is a looming health care crisis in the country, unless it is the progress the socialized medicine is making. Everyone has access to health care, as I hear it and experienced it recently. I could not get my wife into the emergency room for treatment even though we could pay because some slow thinkers decided to use emergency rooms as free health clinics. For cat's sake, build free health clinics for the poor and illegally here, but leave the rest of us the health care we pay for.
What you are overlooking is the elephant in the room. Doesn't it always surprise you how people proclaiming to be authorities on the subject do not explain the elephant beside them. This elephant is the thirty or forty million young and young families that are healthy and can pay for doctor's visits. They do not want to pay health insurance because they would have to subsidise my premiums and the premiums of people with aids or other friends of the political class. The only reason to force these people to buy health insurance it to force them to help share the load of people who cannot afford the cost of their health care, either because they are too poor or too sick.
That's the elephant, let's talk about it.
