Get rid of the open-borders criminals, including the Governors, Mayors , city Administrators and all those who out to appease the illegal immigrant advocates. If you listen to the rhetoric, propaganda, lies and faith-based advocates, US TAXPAYERS WILL BE IMPORTING POVERTY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. People who are in this country illegally are lawbreakers, even though the Congress made it a civil penalty. It's stealing jobs from citizens and legal residents and offers nothing to America, but OVERPOPULATION and chain migration. The major issue was the loophole that was inserted called the "Family Reunification Act." New immigrant citizens could bring in parents and siblings, who could bring in their spouses. They, in turn, could bring in their family members--a chain migration. By 1970, there were so many disabled, and elderly parents that the government had to assist them. The government started Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and even SDI. That also included Medicaid, and some got food stamps and a housing allowances. It's outcome is family reunion and extra costs for the disabled, mentally sick and elderly that never paid into the system. US.Taxpayers would be forever paying for the extended families and all those they sponsor. 80 percent of the American population are NOT easily going to be swayed, by either Obama, McCain to give the 13 to 20 million illegal aliens any kind of Amnesty.? By any name they want to call it? It has to be voted by house, Senate, and THE PEOPLE and that will have major hurdles, if not impossible? The law states, according to the (1986) Immigration Control act. Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A): they broke Federal law. It states, "..a person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) So if this law is correct illegal immigrants should not be counted in any Census. California is paying a heavy price for aiding and abetting illegal aliens.$11 Billion of the, the $17.5 billion budget mess is directly related to illegal immigrant welfare programs. In fact any state, county or city that shelters illegal immigrants, should lose Federal funds. Those elected officials implicated should go to prison. Go to NUMBERSUSA, CAPSWEB to learn about OVERPOPULATION and other unsuppressed facts Read about the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) enforcement only law, that Democrats are trying to derail. Read the unsuppressed truth at JUDICIAL WATCH. YOU DECIDE! NOT THE HIRED HELP IN WASHINGTON, DC

Bob Barr, It's too bad you aren't the Republican Presidential candidate. You make more sense than McCain, especially on this issue. I just hope you don't cause Obama to win by taking a few votes from McCain.

Washington has all but abolished immigration law that has been 232 years in the making and the only ones put through the ringer are those that follow the law. If you jump the fence you are treated with compassion and excused from obeying the law and if someone tries to enforce the law the fence jumper becomes the victim and the enforcer becomes a begot. This is not about race or compassion but of greed and decadence. It is not just one law that these people break but they compromise our laws on all levels and laws without enforcement are just laughable suggestions. No matter how you change the rules the one rule which will remain and that is “if you do not follow the rules you will be denied entry and or deported. I know it is politically incorrect to speak out on illegal migration but it is something that threatens our nation in a big way. This is a full scale invasion nothing less. Small towns are being eaten up all across the country by this criminal migration and the worst is yet to come. I live in a small town which has been overrun by illegals and it has become unbearable and I have no place to go. Where is the compassion for US Citizens?

Mr. Barr, you are correct. It's a shame more americans do not take the libertarian party seriously. Unfortunately, you will take votes more from the right than from the left, and it could lead to an Obama win. this wouldn't be the worst thing, as it may refocus the republicans on why they lost and re-examine those issues. The problem is, will the damage that an Obama administration would do be irrevocable? As the democrats move further to the left, the republicans seem to think that their response should be to jump in where the dems used to be. That flawed thinking will lead to further socialization of this country. Classical liberalism as presented through libertarianism, and objectivism is the correct path, which is neither so much right and left as it is on another axis that pits libertarian versus authoritarian political philosophy. We need less government and government applied towards what it should do. Thank you Mr. Barr for your article. Jim http://www.the-right-guy.com

It's a shame, this President has gone a long way in securing the borders, he tried a solution to the illegals problem! The official language is not relevant, if English is used in Federal offices for business, it will be learned, or no business! Kind of simple, and direct! If states wish to provide documents, they will be from STATE funds! There IS need for labor, for picking, planting, plowing, fertilizing, nailing, sawing, jobs difficult to fill. Virtually ALL the people I know who, are legal, and illegal in the United States say, given a choice, they would work ten or fifteen years, earn a retirement, return home to live! If true, why not restart the BRACERO program that provided labor during, and after World War II, revise it, increase the numbers needed, and contract it to Manpower! Allow workers AND employers to pay into the Soc-Sec system, buy a house, whatever! Upon retirement pay a reduced benefit, after reaching the retirement age of their country, through that retirement systems, just as the original program! Form health clinics, in predominately Hispanic areas, as medical facilities for treatment, evaluation, shots, pregnancy treatment up to delivery, drawing of blood, treatment and screening for STD's, marriages, donations. This is similar to facilities they're familiar with, and would use! Simple care facilities, with doctor's ON CALL, but, not on location, contracted with hospitals for advanced treatments. This would save money, and be funded by, patients, employers, city, county, state, and Federal funds. Something like Emergent Care facilities! Walk in, available to everyone, with displayed, reasonable fee schedule! An existing clinic could be awarded a contract renewable for periods, with federal, state and local inspection! For illegals, if NO criminal record, and in this country over ten years, fine them $3,000.00, payable by installments over two years. Go to a Federal courthouse for non-transferable/copyable ID, for each member! Allow them work for five years during which time they must return to their country, fill out paperwork for entry, process it and get approval, then resubmit for permanent expedited status, NOT for citizenship! This would allow the family to remain, until they had enough time to retire, in their countries, then depart! Members reaching maturation, are given the opportunity to apply for worker permits! Do this to lesser degree for other illegals, while increasing the number of legals entering for these jobs. Remember, illegals can NOT apply for citizenship, only work permits! Not necessarily ideal, but would be a a compromise! Recognizing the need for work brought them here, they have performed professionally since arriving! All with criminal histories such as robbery, burglary or worse will be deported with NO return, not so for minor crimes clear-able by a judge.

Bob Barr is a **complete and utter fake**. What he outlines above is more or less the same plan as McCain and BHO, with a little more window dressing added in an attempt to fool more people than McCain has been able to do. That window dressing (ending birthright citizenship for instance) has almost zero chance of being passed in the current environment. That's easy to see: bills trying to end birthright citizenship have gone nowhere. How is Barr going to succeed where others have failed miserably? And, Barr's proposals have an even lesser chance of coming to pass due to the amnesty he supports. Political hacks try to fool people by supporting amnesty and then calling it something else. If you listen to his Boortz interview and read between the lines of the penultimate paragraph, you'll see that Barr supports some form of legalization. And, that legalization would be seen as amnesty no matter what Barr calls it. There's more here: http://24ahead.com/blog/archives/007625.html http://24ahead.com/blog/archives/007832.html Please do your research, and don't be fooled by Bob Barr.

Further, Barr is not using his platform to fight against those who support amnesty. He probably has no clue what that means, either. For instance, one of the lawyers involved in the Plyler case he mentions above has at least four links to the Mexican government. A couple years ago he formed a joint venture with that government. He's currently a lawyer for a group of towns that are trying to block the fence. He heads up a group comprised of major non-profits (Barr's friends the ACLU, the SPLC, etc.) He's involved in other lawsuits that would have the effect of undercutting our laws. Is Barr speaking out against people like that? Is Barr turning on his friends in the ACLU due to the fact that they're currently collaborating with the Mexican government in order to possibly sue the U.S. over our immigration policy? No, Barr isn't doing any of that. He doesn't really believe in anything he's saying, he's basically just come up with a variation on how other politicians have tried to fool people on this issue. I've been covering this issue long enough to know who believes in what they're saying and who's a fake. Barr is a complete and utter fake.

We are not a nation (sic) of immigrants. I'm an American, and have been since birth. Ditto for the ancestors on both sides who stretch back in this land since before the Revolution. So, why does Barr repeat the same lie perpetuated by George Bush? As for the "need" for skilled labor, that's another Big Lie put forth by the Business Roundtable and others like it. Read anything by Professor Norm Matloff of the University of California at Davis and you'll understand this. The elites want cheap labor.

It is not as easy to get public benefits as you and a lot of other Americans think. I was stunned to find out recently that a 62-year old man who had a heart attack WHO HAS A GREEN CARD could not qualify for Medicare in Maryland. They said that he would have to have had his Green Card for at least five years before he could qualify for benefits. Of course, there are sick people who do show up at Emergency Rooms and take advantage of the system since they are unable to pay the regular fees. Also, in your piece, you say "anyone hoping to get a Green Card ... should have to register and get in line with everyone else." That would be a good suggestion. However, right now THERE IS NO LINE. Anyone who is already here in the country illegally has no means or method to apply for any type of legal status. If you know of any, can you please point me to it? If you do not know of any, will you work to set up a system, "a line" for illegal immigrants to apply for and move toward getting their "Green Card" (Permanent residence)?
