What a suitable career aspiration for Franken, who's Air America show couldn't attract enough audience to stay on the radio, even when completely subsidized by the station. Now he wants the taxpayers to pay for his airtime, so he can release more toxic vapors into the atmosphere.

U. S. union membership is about 12 percent (of the workforce) in 2007 and less than 8 percent of the private sector workers are in unions. QED the government is vastly unionized, vastly bloated, vastly overpaid and vastly incompetent. Remember the TSA, "To professionalize you must federalize and unionize"? We should want more of this strong 'middle class' strong "labor movement" strong government? Democracy is the rule of fools by fools. Unionism is communism.

One only needs to look at the economic effectiveness of unions in our government, our auto industry and the quality effectiveness of our education system to determine which way to vote.

You only need to look at the way unions take dues from members to endorse programs members oppose. The union leaders will do what they want even when it harms union members. This happens regularly with the union retirement funds.

During this past week, Gov Palin arranged to send Alaska National Guard aircraft to Louisiana to help with relief work. She sent one C-130 cargo plane, two helicopters and 30 National Guard personnel. Gov Jingel requested aid and Gov Palin sent it. Even during the convention Gov Palin serves and helps solve problems. That is executive action Obama and Biden have never preformed.

I will say this. I think Labor Unions are and will always be a good thing for this country. But too much of a good thing can damage or destroy the good things it creates. Companies want to have absolute control over their work force. To the point of becoming industrial and economic despots. There must be a balance between one and the other. I believe it to be a job of fair government to see to it that this balance is maintained.HW

If the elections are free and fair, and a secret ballot is about as fair as it can get, then if the people want to unionize or not so be it. Can we really blame the lack of unionization on the secret ballot? I don't think so. Perhaps, just perhaps there are other reasons. Now if it was a secret butterfly ballot and the union looses, then better call in Al and the lawyers.
