I would like to ask whether Mr. Zumwalt holds Israeli citizenship. It would appear so, since he is ready to commit Americans to another disastrous war that is clearly not in American interests, but is clearly seen by most Israelis as benefiting them. Mr. Zumwalt has compiled a long list of slights the US has supposedly suffered from the Iranians. He curiously has omitted the greater provocations we have inflicted on them - toppling their democratic regime and installing the Shah, and our support of Saddam with weapons as he killed hundreds of thousands of Iranians in the Iran-Iraq war. Maybe Ahmadinejad, as a veteran of that war might have some reason to be a little sore at us. Then there are the raids into Iran by US special forces, which no doubt have killed quite a few Iranians. There is always an excuse to go to war, but there is almost never a good reason. There is certainly no compelling reason for US national interests of the US to go to war against Iran. We have much bigger fish to fry than to be bogged down in stupid wars in the middle east. We have to deal with the rising industrial, technological, and military power of China. It hurts us to be bled dry on unnecessary wars while the Chinese are eating our lunch. Maybe we should consider bombing Israel pre-emptively before they make more trouble for us. The Iranians, despite their flaws, have oil they can sell us. The Israelis just have snake oil.
Mark as offensive
